You are in Luck Raywood, I replaced my TP top end with the S&S and have mine laying around collecting dust along with a pile of other used parts. I don't have the Rocker boxes, but I have the roller rockers and shafts. I also have the stock lifters, lifter blocks and cam, all came out of my 2006 Mastiff (117) this parts only have about 1500 miles on them, just about broken in and ready for some long hauls.:D If they fit and you can use them let me know and they are yours. I also have the stock heads, which also have about 1500 miles on them. Let me know on the other parts and they are yours. The heads I would let go for $200 shipped, they have the red stripe springs. I don't need any money up front your credit is good with me Bro.

Carlos, you never seem to amaze with your help to the members here. Thank you for all that.
I will pull my lifter blocks tomorrow morning and measure the lifters and wear on the blocks. S&S manual states .0022 wear or something like that. If mine are worn beyond that then I'll take you up on the offer for the blocks and lifters. Money is tight now that I'm unemployed and living off my retirement check (that all goes to mortgage!). Nothing looking out of place so far so don't know yet what the issue is with the motor.
Thanks again,
Ray

You got it Ray, with all them miles on you bike, I think it would be a good idea to change out the lifters, lifter blocks and and rockers just for good measure, and while your there might as well change out the cam too, I think the stock one I have is the 546 or something like that. I had a 600, but LDO beat you to it :D. Let me know and I'll get the stuff out to you. If you need the heads, don't worry about the cash, you can spot me the cash whenever, next year will be ok with me as long as you don't forget

I had a something similar once on my Road King. I swore it sounded like a coffee can full of nuts and bolts being shaken. Nothing really at idle, but once moving along it got worse. Thought it was coming from inside the engine on the carb side. Well the HD mechanic found the problem. Right side, but wrong diagnostic on my part. Turned out it was a broken baffle in the exhaust that was rattling like hell.

Today I pulled the rocker covers and pushrods. I found some interesting evidence of worn valve guides at least at the rear cylinder.
I'm taking up Carlos on his offer to replace my heads with the ones he pulled off his bike. Number 1 reason is my 05 has the smaller valves and his 06 heads should have the stock S&S size valves. Plus his have the "red stripe" springs and mine doesn't. So I would be foolish not to swap them out.
I couldn't pull the lifters out. Seems they have worn and created a lip at the top of the lifter block and I can't pull them out. To complicate things I couldn't pull the lifter blocks cause I don't have a 12pt 1/4in socket to pull the 4 bolts. All my sockets are 6pt! I wanted to pull the heads also but guess what? I need a 1/2" 12pt socket and alls I have is 6pt. So once I get a couple new sockets I can pull the heads and inspect the pistons and rings as well as the valves.
Here are a few pictues I took a minute ago:

Front cylinder looks great. Clean and neat.

Rear cylinder. Not so good. Looks like I have a worn valve guide and it's venting exhuast into the rockers. See the burned oil residue?

Another angle of the rear cylinder.

Pushrods looked fine. No excess wear on ends that I could tell.

Rockers looked good but till I pull them and check tolerances....

Motor down to heads. Will pull these once I get the proper tools.

More to follow. :D

Just to get you by for today, a closed end wrench is 12 point. Not sure you have room. Sears also sells individual sockets.

Thanks, I'm headed that way. I do have Snap-on wrench's and yes I can fit the box end on the two outside bolts but can't get to the two inner ones.

I haven't pulled the pushrods yet. I did get a .pdf file from TP on proper dis-asembly and re-assembly of the rockers. I'm leaning to a lifter also. My S&S manual says replacement every 20,000 - 25,000 miles and I'm at about 65,000 now and this is the first time the motor has been opened up.
Looks like my issue now is I'm going to have to take my lifter blocks down and have them measured for the replacement lifters. The tolerance is something like .0022 so I would imangine I would exceed that and have to get oversized lifters. Can't afford to do the whole top-end yet so will wait till the snow comes then send the stuff of to be done.
I'll do a "how-to" when I'm done as I've been taking lots of pictures and I have the TP files now that I can print out and put in my manual.

Thanks guys,
Ray

Ray, after you get the scoot running could you post up the PDF file from TP for those of us with the TP boxes.

With 65K he doesn't have the time to stop and buy tools
Your right kick, I'm just bustin Ray chops only because we have met and drank suds together. I can only admire his mileage chevrons, now with his bike apart maybe I can make up some ground......

Update Wednesday

I got a 1/2" 12pt socket and pulled the heads. Nothing to report that hasn't already been stated. I seem to have a bit of carbon build up on the pistons but everything else looks fine. You can see the exhaust leak from the valve guide better now on the rear cylinder. Looks like I'll pull the pistons and barrels and have them cleaned up and new rings fitted by my local shop.
I continue to have problems with the lifter blocks. Got a 1/4" 12pt socket from Sears this morning but it doesn't fit. May need to try on size up on a metric or something. Pain in the ass just to pull the lifters!

Here are my recent pictures so far of the heads and pistons:

See the exhaust leak.

Barrels looked pretty good with 65,000 miles on them

Some scoring on this one so a clean up is in order
