Spark plugs

I have 11K on my mutt and I change plugs at 2500 miles along with the oil. The champs are $1.99 each at Auto Zone. If I can pay $11 a quart for amsoil I can afford new plugs.

What the hell, I will throw my 2 cents in on this! I raced late models (VP Fuel) and sprintcars (Methanol) and Spanel Engines and Gaerte Engines built all of my motors. Racers are notorious for 'monkey see, monkey do' On both motors, latemodel 358 cast iron Bowtie heads and Sprint 360 aluminum heads, on the dyno, sequential pulls we compared champion vs NGK. I was surprised at results. Each spark plug change between the 2 had indexing and reach shimmed to be almost exact. On cast headed motor, champion plugs were 1.2 hp, 2.1 tq better, on aluminum headed sprint, the NGK's were the better by about same amount than Champion. Total of 4 pulls on each chg. Results were repeated. I run NGK DCPR7E in my Chopper, about $2 bucks and chg each season.

I change the plugs in my bikes about once a month or maybe every 10 to 12 hours of riding on my street bikes - sometimes even more often than that.
Spark Plugs are cheap and it's just a regular maintenance habit of mine to grab a new set every time I clean or go over that particular bike I'm riding that day .:D
Grab em ,gap em , install em and grab a glance at the old ones before I chuck em in the garbage.

But.... why when checking if it fits BDM models in the page it says "IT DOES NOT FIT"?????? What you reckon guys? In the page it states they are DCPR7E s, so.....

Also, what is the difference between DCPR7E and DCPR7ESFP

Your inputs, please?

We run Champion plugs with the smaller hex nut pattern using a 5/8" wrench. RA6HC?

Much easier to install and remove.

Those are right for the 04 and older engines you are fine.

The quoted 12YC are for 04 and earlier.

Engines went from the S&S Super Sidewinder (SSW) to the S&S Super Sidewinder plus in 05 (SSW+). For some reason they went to a smaller plug along with a few other changes cam to crank sensor and new breathing

If your bike is jetted & timed right, you can run 20,000 + miles on a set of plugs, no problem.
Check them occasionally for build up of residue. If there's any, you need to change them. If the electrode is burnt, and really rounded, same deal.

I like .035", unless the compression is over 11.5:1. Then I'll go to .032".
Be sure when replacing the plugs to make them tight. I can't count the # of bikes that come into my place with plugs that aren't as tight as they should be.
I tighten the new plug with a drop of oil on the threads, back off, and re-tighten them tight.

Do you torque them John? I always just tighten by feel but am skeptical to over tighten.
