I was under the impression that the newer dogs ,, we only had 2 options for an open primary , Karata and Baker , I have an 06 ridgeback ,, went with Karata , I personally was after the look and whine ,more so then the need
I was the same wanted the look, and the whine is unmatched !

Went with the email approach, following up this afternoon with a call. If they have stock of what I am looking for I will drive down and pick up.
They might not have stock back in the heyday it was a wait list. It's been a couple years since anyone has mentioned getting their hands on one. So good luck!

I think that was the biggest problem, not just the crappy customer service but the fact that there was a waiting list and the owner made no effort to actually get after that list and even said that to one of the guys.

That say's a lot about a product. If he will not get to you for sale's, your screwed for repair parts! In business it's service, service, service! Happy happy happy customers mean word of mouth and additional sales! I have made return service calls for free to make the customer happy and in return they called me back! If your trying to buy something from someone who will not return your call why buy their product! Think about a car lot. You want to buy car X. You go to the sales lot but nobody will wait on you. How long before you go to another lot! My uncle was the sales manager for a Ford dealer. He always said," you sale the vehicle cheap as possible almost to the point to break even. You make your money in the service bays!"

That's the only way I'd do it. If you can't reach them then sending money won't make it better... But what do you do if you need a part down the road? I'd go with BDL or Baker and sleep at night...

Exactly. And this is why many won't give them their business. Too many of us work hard for our customers.

Good luck is right, 2 emails with no response, 3 calls unanswered. Maybe I drive to Pa and knock on the door..

Just curious why baker doesnt offer a wider belt drive or optional outer cover designs? I think thats where karata wins attention because they look badass. Baker looks cool, but not like karata.

Not sure, I'm a bit stubborn when things don't go as I would like or maybe it's like the old adage, you want something more when it's just out of reach... Whatever it is the more I look at, the more I want it.

It's not a big market...not a whole lot of people got $3,000 to change their primary. And the 05+ dogs have a specific primary design so they can't cross sell it.

Don't ask me why the primary is $2,700 when you can buy LSD ones for under $1000. That I have not a clue.

I'm running the Karata 4" drive and love it. Install was simple and the sound is awesome. Had a Harley rider join up with me one day and he was riding behind me. Pulled up to me at a light and was amazed by the sound. Thought I was running a turbo on the scoot. I told him it was the belt drive. He said it sounded badazz.

Sad to hear that Karata isn't making these drives for our scoots anymore. Last time I talked to them they said the lead time was outrageous (I think like 8 months or better). I looked into the hellhound and I'm not sure if that unit works with our scoots. At least, I don't know of anyone running it. If someone is and hasn't spoken up, it would be nice to hear how it's working out! I know a member said they were going to put one on a later model BDM, but I haven't heard or seen him on in a while.

i run the 4 inch karata have for 5 years now...love it...bike shows love it...harley dudes love it...they just wont admit it...lol any way yea clutch was stiff but i used an old trick from banshee racing days... i run 3 stock heavy karata springs and 3 light weight toomey racing springs...makes for a realistic pull on the clutch...and the only thing i have had to buy is a spare belt...open primarys hate small rocks by the way.

I just bit the bullet and ordered a Baker. True, the belt is only 2.4 wide, but from what I understand, baker uses steel rather than aluminum, and it holds up better to wear. Guess ill find out

LSD is left side drive, most things are cheaper for that than the right side drives.
