I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I'm finally installing my S&S tuned dual runner intake (part # 170-0084) on my 08 Pitbull after swapping to my FSD hotrod sinful pipes and having to ditch the stock intake.

The adaptor plate fits a couple different applications so some of the stuff in the kit is not used. I'm reading the instructions but they are rather vague.

The back of the adapter plate has 2 vent fittings on it. One is barbed that they refer to as the carb vent fitting. The other is larger and they refer to it as the secondary breather fitting which they said may not be used for every application and they included a plug for it if needed. They make it seem as if the barbed fitting is a must use as they didnt supply a plug for it and included this long 3/8" line but they dont tell you where the other end connects to???

The bike has the 1/2" line coming off the head that went to the stock intake with the check valve in it as you can see in the pic. That line will connect perfectly to the secondary breather fitting so I'm assuming I use that one.

Do I put this 3/8" line they supplied on the barbed fitting and just tuck it somewhere or get my own plug to fit it and leave it plugged??

Hoping someone here has installed this intake and can help me out. Yes I'm enjoying my A/C and installing this in my kitchen. Haha

Thanks in advance fellas!

Okay, so I just found this out myself, off your rear cylinder there is vent tube 3/8", it has a check valve, make sure u re-install it. That goes to the bottom of your air cleaner, the front head has a 1/4" hose that goes to the top of your intake

So I'll use the secondary air fitting for the factory hose as I assumed which fits perfectly and then just plug this 3/8" line they supplied onto the barbed brass fitting and run it out the bottom of the bike??

I was wondering if thats what I was supposed to do but it didnt make sense to me to leave the line open. I'm not sure if it sucks air or not but if it does... itll be allowing unfiltered air into the carb since it's going directly into the back of the adaptor plate and into the carb.

Sorry for being so paranoid. Just want to make sure I install this thing right and dont cause myself any issues.

I appreciate the response btw!!

So the smaller line off the front head you're talking about is already connected to the base of the carb as shown. I leave that one alone I assume??

The larger vent line off the rear cylinder head with the check valve goes to the intake and plugs perfectly onto the secondary breather fitting on the adaptor plate.

The barbed fitting on the plate has nowhere to go unless I put the hose on it and run it out the bottom leaving it open or I get my own plug for it.

Put the hose on it and just run it out the bottom, don’t plug it. You know where the 3/8” with the check valve went. Has nothing to do with the hose coming off the front head.
Don’t forget to remove the auxiliary bowl vent screw after installing your dual runner, S&S has great instructions where it is and how to tune your carb.

Ok. I'll put it on and run it to the bottom leaving it open. I dont know if the previous owner changed something but I didnt have a 3/8" line with a check valve running to the bottom of the bike. Only line I have with a check valve on it is the larger one coming off the rear cylinder head that goes to the rear of the intake that's shown in the pics.

I'll look up where that screw is and I'll take it out. I was going to take the bike to a local shop to have it dyno tuned for the exhaust and new intake but if tuning the carb is that easy... I may just give it a shot myself. I just didnt know if it would need different sized jets or not.

I appreciate it bro! I've been meaning to hit you up. Just been working too much and I've had a lot going on. Believe it or not... I dont think I've ridden this thing since the last time we all rode. It's just been sitting and getting dusty. Lol Trying to get her ready for some good ride time here pretty soon!

That's because there isn't one. There's only 1 with a check valve and you have that one already hooked up.

Ahh I see what you're saying now. Lol I misread it. Sorry! I got it all installed tho. I removed the aux bowl vent screw so shes all good to go minus jetting and tuning.

This may be a stupid question and I'm pretty sure I already know the answer but will I have to pull the intake and carb off to change the jets? I'm assuming so but would be nice if they are somehow accessible without having to do so.

Anyone know what size jets come stock? No telling if the previous owner changed them but I doubt he would have.

Is it even worth trying to tune it with the current jets or is it definitive that they will need to be changed? 20180509_150420.jpg

I see ya have the rain socks on there, but you could also put black shrink tube on the filter band clamps to blend them in a little:old2:

Man that looks killer!! Are those the rain socks too or different filter covers? I think I got the idea from you honestly. I wanted black filters but opted for the filters it comes with and just ordered the rain socks for the black look. I def want to change the clamps to black tho. Looks much better like that!
