Thanks for the compliment.I used to think I was a machinist. Now I know I'm a trainee.

Nice work Andy congrats.Got the K9 out of the trailer down in St. Augustine Florida and fired it up and drove 70 miles down to Daytona, and 70 back. It ran flawlessly through the week and I didn't really crack that throttle hard until the third day of riding it. It's a rocket! I would have never expected this type of power to come from it. I've been on some fast jap bikes and I wouldn't be surprised if I could walk one of them. The thing feels like a Hayabusa. I am very, very happy with the outcome.

I liked the fact that they repaved the loop, made the ride very smooth up thru there
Where did you get the chrome wheels? I'm trying to find out who would chrome the stock wheels I have.Started it up today. I can honestly say that the rocker boxes are significantly and noticeably different. There is absolutely no sound at all coming from the top of the engine. You can set your ear on the rocker box cover and nothing. I knew right away, that if I could cure the binding in the rocker box, then it's for the better mechanically, although I never would have thought that it would go completely silent. I am very, very pleased with how this came out. It's 22 degrees here today and I ran it in my garage and then was able just to take it down my block and back. Once getting back into the garage, it started snowing. Well, that's a wrap and I appreciate anyone who has been following my progress throughout this build. Thanks.
Since u are tearing it down u should have ur cylinders polished it will look 100 times better well u have it apart get some head work done and u can bore it if u want and get new pistons and a cam. But talk to s&is about the boring and the cam or get a certified s&is builder to do it, but just remember boring with bigger pistons will make it run hot as hell there will be no stopping in traffic unless oil coolers are installed good luckIn the process of replacing a front head gasket that is seeping and leaving residue between the head and cylinder. Since it's winter here, I figure I would tear it down, both heads as well as taking the cylinders off as well. I am in the understanding that there is power to be had with milling the jugs to bring the piston closer to the cylinders deck surface. From what I read, I have been told that the S&S 117 pistons in relation to the deck surface is around .055 down. I'd like to use an multi layer system (MLS) head gasket such as Cometics, if there is an offering. I am also interested in a suggestion for the base gaskets as well, as I don't want issues in the future. Suggestions on cams would be welcomed and suggestions or tips on the process would also be welcomed. I've read something about a compression release tool? Needed or not?View attachment 38745

I'm open to all suggestions..... ....... including the finding a "certified S&S builder" one.I don't think that you have red the whole thread to say the least.
No actually to say the least I saw just a thread asking for opinions on what to do during a winter rebuilding then I saw where it was posters and saw that he was well on his way,but really no reason for sarcasm when I saw an old thread and just gave my Opinion " 2 say the least "I don't think that you have red the whole thread to say the least.
