569 cam specs

I know there have questions in the past about the stock 569 cam specs. It took a lot of digging, but I found them a few years ago. Here they are, if anyone is interested. As you can see, it is definitely a shitty epa cam. The -2 intake opening and 6 degrees of overlap is not what you would call a "performance" cam.

So what I found last year when doing the rebuild on my engine and all that, the 117 from S&S came with a 600 of u got a crate engine, our engines were EPA rates and significantly downtuned. I know a lot of the guys are running a 585 I believe, but never heard of this one and couldn’t tell you much about it

The 569 was the stock cam in '05 and '06 and maybe some of '07. If you have a 117 with TP rocker boxes, you have a 569 cam. If you have the s&s boxes, the stock cam is the 546.

I'm thinking of doing a cam upgrade on my 2002 S&S 107. What do you guys recommend ? Only 3570 miles on the motor.

I called BDM and was told that most 107s came with the 600 or the 520. I called S&S with my SN and they told me my piece engine had a 520 when shipped from them. If I ever get my butt in gear I am going 585. I am pretty sure my bike does not have the 600. Just have not felt like taking the cam cover off.

Well it's the one you took out then. You had the 569 when you did the lifters at my house

Killin me smalls!! I got all my information from S&S before I did everything to make sure it was exactly as it was supposed to be for the engines sake, not performance. The way these things are epa rated and dummies down actually hurts them

I'm not sure what the compression ratio is on the BD 107's. I'm sure someone here knows. If it's in the mid to high 9's, the 585 is really great. It made a big difference in my 117. If it's over 10:1 cr, the 600 is probably a better choice.

I have a '99 model 107 with a 600 cam. 9.7 CR. S&S told me I could run 87 in it, just don't hammer it. But 89 would be just fine. Definitely a motor for an experienced rider of high hp bikes. Plus, I had Bob Maltz of xXx carb do a 'tune up' ....

I still have 546 but it’s like never having cruise control. If you never had it, you can’t feel like you have to have it.

The 585 was a big difference for me. Low end torque felt stronger, and the bike now pulls hard all the way to redline. With the stock 569, it would start falling off around 5000 rpms. I also lost a few miles per gallon with the cam swap, but I went to a smaller pilot jet and smaller pump nozzle on the mikuni, and mileage is pretry close to where it was before the swap. I didn't notice a big difference in performance with the TH ignition, but it did make the motor smoother. Hard to explain, but you could feel that immediately.

With my riding style I never really noticed a difference with a 585 or the ignition module. I guess I ride like a pussy....

Biggest notice for me was a loss of 3-4mpg

I really did notice the Cam, the TH Module is hard to say... I didnt play much with it, I just left it at Setting #3.
