Gentlemen. I find the AIH Prices to be on par or sometimes even lower than a BDM, least around here in the Tampa Bay area. As far as parts go, there are at least two exceptional on line AIH stores. The rear pulley can be repaired, a place in Texas does this. Like I said, I enjoy both my BDM & AIH motorcycles, there are things I prefer one brand over the other, but both quality OUTSTANDING motorcycles... If you can't find a RIDGEBACK, check out a LSC (Lone Star Chopper)...
Disclaimer: I am not a mechanic; however, based on owning my K9 for 12 years, having to adjust the idle while at stop lights is not the answer, it is a band aid. My 2 cents.....
I have 2 big dogs, a black K-9 and a black and flame bulldog LE, both 300 rear tires. The K-9 is the main ride, as it just seems more comfortable to me and easier to ride. Going to sell the 07 bulldog I think.
I'm considering having 2 BDMs as my only bikes. For parking in the garage at work and downtown I need a stubby bike. Are the stubbiest BDMs the pre-'04 pitbull and pre-'04 bulldog (73" wheelbase and 69" wheelbase respectively)? I also ride year round. The pitbull is a rigid but a 250 tire, the bulldog has suspension but a 240 tire, which is less likely to slide in the rain/morning frost?
Big Daddy has a sweet one for sale http://www.bigdogbiker.com/threads/spring-cleaning-at-shannons-kennel.81964/
IIRC same wheelbase as the pitbull, color scheme would match my ridgeback, wish I could afford it, I may be looking at this one instead, closer too: https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/mcy/d/2001-big-dog/6628352938.html Has the elusive sissybar setup but looks like those could be TP boxes (hard to tell though)
If this thread continues, I might end up with two Dogs before it is all over......I'm just saying, thinking or something crazy!
just remember, wheelbase plus 1/2 front tire plus 1/2 back tire makes it too long to park sideways in normal parking spaces.
I’m trying save for my first one but after lurking around on here for a year or so I’m still wondering which are the best years
