Thanks for all the kind remarks. I honestly didn't think it would go over very well to fellow chopper guys, figured I'd get alot of heat for doing something out of the norm. Even though it's not for most it's nice to see guys can apriciate it for what it is and the work that went into it.

Those bags look bad ass and bet if you made em for owners they would buy. Those riders that ride further for days at a time would appreciate the added space. Just take them off around the naysayers and all is good. Saw a set years ago on a pro street and while they looked odd they were very functional. Several others have mocked some up but no one seems to want to produce commercially.

At first I said to myself what?? But after looking at the finished product I am impressed. The knowage and vision you had to get it done is truly a gift. Great job!

Thanks, remarkably, the response so far has been way above my expectations. I thought the Chopper got a lot of attention before, gets even more looks and comments now and haven't had anyone make a negative comment on the street or at a stop. Constantly have guys coming overnto check it out. I wish I had the capability to mass produce but do not have the time or space for such a thing. Plus with all the differences in tire and fender sizes everything would have to be a custom fit. If I had to do it over again I would have taken 2 inches off the bottom for added clearance and may modify if I ever want to repaint. Still havent scraped yet but it's always in the back of my mind when cornering.

Thanks man, believe me everyone though I was nuts when I came up with the idea, my wife being the biggest nay sayer. I saw it in my head and figured if it come out like shit, I'd just scrap the whole thing. In the end it came out better than I though, still like the look of the bare chopper better, but having the bags has been sooooo nice. Makes it easier for my daily rides to work, lunch cooler in one bag, and change of close in the other, and I use the bike more often for quick trips to the store to pick up something small where I'd always take the truck fearing if I took the bike, the sissy bar bag would get swiped out in the parking lot. It was a lot of work but I love doing that shit so it was just a fun and challenging project. Here was my original sketch I did before starting, originally I was thinking of making a fairing to balance out the big ass. Still may down the line to see what it looks if I'm looking for something to do, and if it looks like shit, I'll toss it.

Really nice job. Looks good. The problem I had when I tried to put hard bags on my Fatboy softail was the mounts didn't attach to the rear fender at the bottom so when you hit a bump the bags would really wobble all over and I hit a pot hole doing 45 mph and both bags came off and were hit by a truck. $1,500 down the tubes. I don't see a frame on yours to hold the bottom of the bags tight to the fender and frame. Hope you don't have the same luck as me.

When I first built the mounts and mocked it up I noticed the same problem so I welded a couple tabs on to the bag mounts that bolt to the fender. Put on quite a few miles since finishing and it's rock solid. The first picture shows the tabs on the mounts before finish work and the second pic shows it mounted to the fender. I made the mounts very similar to what you probably used for your Softail, but made it so it mounts between the fender and strut.

That's the way to do it because it's solid mounted on the bottom.
