I need your input as to how I can make Big Dog Biker an even better community.

I would like your input, be it things you like at other forums or web sites you visit, or things you dislike here. I can't promise anything at this point, other then my effort to raise our level of pure awesomeness.

So, break out those winter thinking caps and grab a Beam and Coke (Pablo), and get to thinking! Just come back and edit your drunken posts into something legible.

Actually, that's my first idea... a drunk night. Maybe one night out of the month where members get drunk, get online and just create drunk rambling posts for everyone to laugh at later.

    What are your thoughts????

I think it's fine the way it is. The other BD site became a porno site and lost members so this is a great BD site for info and fun. Keep doing a great job!

It's an amazing site already. A site that's strong enough to survive even when our bikes didn't. Now that Big Dog is coming back in 2016 it can only get better. It has allowed us a place to go for information on our bikes, parts if we needed them and a few laughs. Some of us are even learning a second language ( Mexican word of the day ) LMAO. Those of us that have been around here so many years appreciate your hard work and the work of the moderators in keeping this site up an running.

    Great question Tim.
    1. Allow for donations all the time not just for member dues. This would allow some of us "non techies" that save lots of cash the chance to give back. I really appreciate the skills on the forum.

    2. I still very much like the calendar idea from Franco for the POTM winners for calendars. I think we could make something work and would be willing to help out if necessary. Send me some "unacceptable pics" so I can digitally enhance them for better quality calendar level print outs.

    3. Maybe add a smidge more emoji's.. I like the one's on the forum..

I really enjoy the forum and get to learn about my bike. Priceless IMHO..

I believe they (drunk ramblers) were just practicing.......if we all join in, it could be a good way to release a lot of stress, come up with some really cool ideas, and be free which is what America is all about! :):):whoop::whoop::old2::old2::old2:

Great site already Tim. Although new to the site, it is one of the best most comprehensive places to go for answer's and pictures and advice. Here is a suggestion....I think a section with the ladies that ride with us on the back or side by side would be fun,. After all what's better than a picture of a BDM? A woman sitting on one! I love this site just the way it is though.

A Saturday night drunk fest would be great! As long as no one gets mad. Maybe after its over delete all the post? Another thing....new people sign up and start selling things right away. Can we put a restriction on this? Maybe like they have to post so many post before there allowed. Or they have to be a member for so long. Well that's it for now. Keep on Rock in!

I should have known that! :oldbang:

    1. Can you expand on that? Are you suggesting some sort of open donation system?

    2. I'll give the POTM calendar a try this year.

    3. I'll look into more emojis

I think deleting a drunk posting night is a pretty good idea.

I'll look at putting a restriction in place for new members and restricting starting threads in the swap meet section.

I can add that to the Dog Pound, lets spit ball some section names for this.

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but I'm throwing in my :2cents: about a couple of these ideas. So far it looks like everyone is digging the drunk post idea. Having been here a while I've seen quite a few destructive drunk posts. My main thing against the idea is that there are many struggling to overcome drinking, many who struggle with helping an addictive loved one, or who have lost someone to drinking. I realize this is only my personal belief but I feel nothing good comes of drunkenness and it shouldn't be encouraged. I mean how awful would we feel if something happened to a member that night who was just drunk posting on here. Again, not trying to start a fight, just a different perspective.

Women who ride and women who are passengers have always been welcome here. (myself, Choppergirl, TSdawg, K-9 Bitch, big bird, LDO's wife, Ray's ex wife, Chris' wife - to name a few) I don't see the need for segregation. But the main reason that I'm not fond of this idea is because many men join as an escape from their old lady. There have been plenty posts where the guys say things like 'I hope my old lady doesn't see this' or 'don't tell my old lady'. I've seen how ugly it can get seeing both sides of a relationship on Facebook, I'd hate to see that here too. Like I've said we've always had ladies on here, maybe not as many as some would like, but they've been equal.

Again, just sharing a different perspective. Thanks for listening and thank you Tim and all the mods for all that you do. I know people give the mods a hard time some times but they have no idea the ugly things that they have seen when they don't keep this place in line.

    Dear Debbie Downer,
We all know who leads the pack with these type of post's, don't we Spaniard:oldwtf: I shouldn't be name calling but I'm gonna:oldlaugh:
I am a recovering alcoholic and will be sober 4 yrs in Feb. Personally I think we have had some of these type of posts before and we had our fun and move on, I don't think we need a drunk topic section, but I will jump in there and have some fun like I have in the past, people need to vent sometimes. If it offends someone and they take it personal, then they probably should stay away from the discussion. Post's are getting hijacked all the time and usually always come back to the subject and a lot of good comes out of these with the talent that is here.:here:
I am fine with it either way, I've made my decision or path in life and will stay the course no matter what, with myself and co-workers hitting retirement, all the retirement gatherings are at a local micro brewery, I've been to all of them and it don't bother me. I have discovered that you can have a lot of fun without it.:whoop::old2: And as BB would say, its just my :2cents:

The only input I would have would be a better firewall to keep out the SPAM post's.

Congrats on your sobriety. There have definitely been some painfully entertaining drunk posts but I just don't see the need to strive for that or make it a goal.
