That's BroDouche to you mister
While you had your bike tore down did you get time to fix your side covers?
My side covers?? Wasn't nothing really "wrong" with em.. the right one is a little scratched.. but I now know how to take em off without scratching em. I was going to buy Kevin's, just been caught up in life ya know.
Added the set screws.
Nicely done. Very interested in how this works out JJ, please update and keep us posted. I plan to get it done next time I have the valve covers off for any reason. Ticking isn’t that bad but it bothers me a bit. Thanks
I sure will.
Going to be a minute, I got big changes going on along with this.
Nice work bud! Did you happen to make a a flat or dimple on the shaft as well?
Ya I did.
The shafts were in place when I drilled the set screw holes.
The drill left a mark on the shaft, so I just used cut off wheel to create a small recess for the set screw.
And I thought the ticking was TP specific so I was going to fix it by replacing w/ S&S Rocker Assemblies. But watching Mark's video and reading this thread, now I wonder if I shouldn't just stick with my TP rockers. Any opinions one way or the other or other reasons to switch to S&S from TP?
Installed set screws, didn't wanna take no chances on having to do this again.. so I did it on both sides. I'll let you all know this weekend what the outcome is.
Set screws on both sides....

No chances here..
So she sounds a lot better.. I'll post more once I put more rhen 20 miles on her on a 70 degree night.. but so far I'm pleased.
On to the next project. Throwing some flat black stripes on her..
Ok...got everything back together and took a good long ride to test it out. Finally had good enough weather! Got the engine good and hot and the rocker assembly mod worked great. No more ticking! Highly recommend doing this if the tick is driving you nuts
That’s awesome Steve, next time I pull it apart this will be done. Great news. Kel said his is running well also.

So.. I did the whole set screw deal, d dnt fix the tapping, just suited it down a hair.. found out after trying to find this oil leak and fix it that my check valve on my rear breather tube was in backwards and has been since I had the head gasket job done before Kansas last year. I have that bike apart like 5 times since and just kept putting it back how it was. Anyways fired her up to ride her and see what happens, opened the garage and it was raining.. so that was a no go. The next day went to go throw a few hundred miles on her with a trip I had planned.. went to start her, got a little more then a turn and my starter went out.. lol.. my luck. Anyways the paint came out great! Got a lot of compliments on it already. Very settle
