Hi guys, I need a little help with figuring out whats wrong with my bike. I've been working on restoring an 04 mastiff and finally got it all pieced together and ready to turn over, but when I try to start it all it does is turn over; there isn't any spark at the plugs. I traced the voltage all the way to the coil and when i put the bike in Run I do get 12V on each side of the coil. I pulled the plugs, grounded them to the casing and still can't get a spark. Any suggestions? Do I need a new coil?

obvious first checks are the plugs themselves and the plug wires. you never know - could be that simple. If not try and borrow a coil to see if that works.

The plugs and the wires are both new, I'll try the old ones just in case but I don't think that's it. The only other thing I can do is to replace the coil unless there's somthing else I can check.

Do you have the ignition wire connected properly to the coil? Post up a picture of the wires or tell us what (color) wire you have at which terminal.

Here's a pic of the coil, It's the original one, I replaced the wires and the plugs.

I took the Plug wires off for a better pic.

Auuuggg shit, forgot your year was dual fire so shouldn't matter how it's wired.
Then I would ask how are you measuring power at the coil? From the two leads?

Gonna need Alhall or some other guys on here to help you out some more now.

Yeah, I measured accross ground and got 12v on both the red and the Yellow wired terminated on each side of the coil when its in Run Mode.

How about some progress pictures!

Here are some pics of the progress, I have everything in to completely put it together just focused on getting it started at the moment. Once i get it running and tuned I'll take it to get painted up.

I've been reading through the site all day looking for some sort of related problem other members may have come across in the past and came across this thread that resembles my problem to the tee.

http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/technical/11504-no-spark.html

It turns out that the position sensor was the problem in his case, I'll look into it on my bike but can anyone tell me how I can determin if its bad or not?

Did the sensor melt in the fire? Glad you have it running.
Now lets get it street worthy so you can enjoy some miles on it.
