Starter stall

Ok guys let's have some input. This get rather old when I want to ride...
Prime it correctly... ignition on, normal lights, run pressed, start button pushed and held.....

Sometimes it starts great and we are off, other times the starter engages for a partial crank, then stops. I will then get both turn signals flashing. Once the run button is pressed a second time, it might start or it does the same thing again. I can reset the ignition switch off a couple then back on. Normal lights and it will either start or do the same things all over.

Deka battery 310cca, on battery tender.
Heavy wires up against battery posts.
Battery has been tested -- its good to go holds 13.4 ish.

Happens more when chilly than when warm

You need to have a LOAD test done on the battery not just a voltage test.

You can try running a GROUND from the Battery directly to the starter (use a mount bolt).

Seems like his problem is intermittent.

If by chance you do need a new battery, I would suggest a harley battery. My 2012 cvo is still on the original battery and never on a charger .

Sounds like a new battery is the solution. I had a battery on a Triumph that was new but one cell caused problems intermittently. It was fine most of the time which caused me to scratch my head for a while.

Mine does the exact same thing when it doesnt have a good charge. Used to keep it on the tender but noticed the tender wouldnt come on unless it dropped to a certain voltage, which would take days or weeks sometimes. Now i have on a timer where it comes on an hour a day and is always fully charged.

Load test comes back good, I would rather it be a new battery than other things more expensive

Never had a problem during the ride, when I stopped and restarted shortly. I will be that a try again just as soon as I get a few washers and retorque some bolts

Not much of a group buy considering it's cheaper on Amazon....haha

MX20L - MOTORCYCLE BATTERY - 500+ CCA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E49MQZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_VONNCbK8Q5HJR

ThrottleX has two versions a USA one and overseas that one has the overseas connections. I'd be willing to bet the USA one is made by Deka anyways and you can buy that for $90 on Amazon. And it hits the 500CA that throttlex claims.

This new Deka out of the box hit 583.7. I did not put it on a charger or anything straight out of the box

My Throttle X battery went belly up in three months. They replaced it free but I replaced it with a Deka. The Throttle X new replacement now runs the utility trailer.

Yeah I would think a smaller battery would be cheaper, most 20 classes are cheaper than 30

I've not had any problems with the Throttle X battery,, But the throttle x is actually no more cca than a Deka if measured at the standard of 0 degrees like they are suppose to be measured. at 65 degrees Dekas show 580 and above too.I know the throttle x i have in mine has no more umph than the Deka batteries I have. There are only 3 places in the entire world that make batteries. every battery out there came from one of the three.. Deka and Harley batteries are made in the same factory. If you pull the sticker off a Interstate battery it says Yualsa on the case. If they can get 500 + cca at 0 degrees in that size of a battery,, they would all have one listed that size at 500 + cca.
