Before 04 the belts are known to squeak a little and they went to the Teflon lined pulley in 05. My 04 hardtail squeaks unless I lube the belt.
Ive been using Teflon spray but that only lasted a few hundred miles every time. Well the other day no DuPont Teflon lube at any stores so came out with some WD40 brand gel lube and damn it! Over 1k miles and not a damn peep from the belt! Rode all the way up to BBBQ and back and not an issue!
