So took apart my transmision today - Won't shift out of gear. I tore it down and found that using the below diagram I can almost freely spin part #48 (Shaft, shift fork 34088-87A)

I need to know how do I replace this piece so I can shift the transmission again? Anything else I should be checking?

Also part #62 is called "Meganut" - Anyone know what size it is? I'm not even sure I can find a socket to fit that fucker. Appears I have to take the pulley/case off to get to that shaft?

As an FYI - I am using the attached link for a diagram on the tranmission.

Here is a picture of my transmission below my finger is on the part:

I would prefer to forgo the complete rebuild -only has 10k on transmission should last a lot longer than that.

Your finger is pointing to the shift paw...#48 as you have stated is the shift paw shaft...not the same part. Shift fork shaft is held in place by 2 set screws, one on each side of case. Pull one or the other out in order to pull rod out. You can put on surface plate or piece of glass to determine if it's bent or not. When you install that rod, make sure you don't over tighten the set screws...they are tightened up till they just touch the rod with very little pressure.
The shift paw, the one you are pointing at, can not be removed unless you take gear assembly out.
So what seems to be the problem with it? Send me a PM and I'll give you my number if you want.

You are right part #59. I read the diagram wrong.

Shifter shaft assembly HD# 35146-03.

The part that I am pointing to is that one I can remove with just the set screws? Or does the gearset need to come out?

The issue is that the transmission is stuck in gear and I hope that the shaft just broke rather than a full rebuild. When I turn the shaft or the shift lever on the outside of the case nothing moves on the inside of the case.

Im searching the internet for a detailed manual but coming up empty handed.

I'll shoot you a PM - Thanks
