The bolts go through the struts from the inside and screw into the mounts. It is very strong once mounted.

That's actually next years project. I'm currently trying to buy a set of extra originals and will weld on there to my liking. This will be for touring use only and be equipped to carry bags (chromed nevertheless). The stock BDM system just doesn't look too strong to me and I bet that's what you're feeling too.

Not so much the strength Kim, more for the cost, I think some US firms charge way over the top for shipping and "HANDLING"cost for us international customers, combine that with US to NZ$ exchange rate, it makes it pretty hard for us. One product I was looking at buying for my BD is $23 US(free shipping for US customers) for us international customers add ANOTHER US $53 shipping and handling....WTF!!!.:down::down:

Tony, your dead right.
I have ordered a part from XXXX who do an auto Primary chain adjuster.
The cost of shipping was almost a costly as the part.
Also it left via USPS and has crossed the US twice, it was shipped on the 7th of Feb, 1 month later it is still doing a national tour.
Maybe they are waiting for the next carrier pidgon.

The sponsors on this forum have been exellent with shipping and also some of the fleebay shit has been here (Australia) with in two weeks.

i've heard some people say that after time, the bar itself will become less sturdy, and wobble...any similar experiences and solutions?

Here's a couple of pictures of the one I had fabricated, although it's using the struts
That's cool, good work. I am trying to get my hands on a set of new struts to weld it all together as an assembly and then chrome it up.

If it was easy, everybody would do it....
