My dealer says he's ordered 10 new speedo setups and will be installing them on BDs as a service bullitin.

Anybody else want to confirm this?

Speedo's LOL sounds funny me even saying that word!

Spoke with Chris at American Cycle Mart today as I'm also waiting for a speedo.
He said that the new ones were released today and are to start being shipped tomorrow....

My Speedometer starts fogging up at about 28 miles and gets worse from there. Does this qualify for replacement?
Thanks

See Ya!

I have no idea... I think anybody can go in for a replacement... Its a DOT thing with the wobble and possible in-accurate milage readings...

I was under the impression that if your going to have a speedo replaced under warranty / service bulletin, the shop needs to take the milage reading, order the new speedo and then the bike has to stay at the shop until the new one arrives with the exact milage programmed in. Basically to ensure the milage is true and accurate.

Anybody shed some light on this???

No, I'm on my seventh I think! But due to DOT requirements the mileage must be taken when the speedo is ordered. Over the course of my seven speedo's I've lost a few thousand miles due to the time it took to get them back from BDM. Sometimes they would come back in a day or two but other times they would take weeks and I would be racking up the miles in the mean time. So, my current 35,000+ reading is a lot less than actual miles.
But thats good in the long run right? If I sell my bike I can list it as 35,000 vice 40,000 and compete with all the Big Dogs on Ebay and Cycle Trader with only a 1000 mile on them. :whoop:

Good call Ray.. .I'm not sure.. about the newer speedo's and the milage thing

I did hear that all dealers will hold your bike now till they get the new speedo installed.

I tried fighting this very issue and well I lost. My bike has the wrong mileage on it as well due to big dog sending out my last speedo worth the wrong mileage on it. When I picked the bike up they made me sign an odometer statement so I could have it corrected at my next appointment. The part I hate is why I have to let my bike sit at the dealer for a week or two waiting for parts and service. I am done with dealers. I even offered to take them my speedo only and they wouldn't go for it. Well I only have 2 months left on warranty so it looks like I'll have to bite the bullet.

Did they tell you how long it would take to get the new speedo?

I refuse to leave my bike for something so stupid! If they can't fix it in a reasonable time frame. They'll have to arrest me to stop me from taking my bike... of coarse... this is only if I'm not bringing it in during the "winter season"

Just spoke with the dealer today and they iformed me that BDM is suppose to have shit load of these new speedos on hand and ready for shipment. They told me that once they get the milage and call it into BDM that BDM will get the speedo out pronto and turn around time should be quick. I guess we'll wait and see.

I posted this today in my broke starter thread.

"Oh by the way, for all you 05 owners and all the newer owners. The new speedo's will go back to the white face and come with a different bracket. Mine is on order and I will get it put on on 1 June when I return the bike."

BDM covered my speedo due to moisture and it was ordered today. Not happy going back to the white face but that's life. For those of you that don't remember or didn't have a white faced one they have a red light vice the blue light we have on our black faced ones. The blue light is easier to see at night!

Yeah...I like the black face with the blue light......like you said Ray...it is easier to see at night and I think it looks better than the red.....but I guess if you want your speedo to work...color won't be a issue. Mine works fine...and hopefully it stays that way:rolleyes:
