but i was riding yesterday and i could hear a small rubbing noise when coasting to a stop i could not locate the noise when i returned home put bike on stand and noticed when rotating back tire the drive belt is touching . back tire looks to be aligned . rear tire size is correct. 2003 pitbull anyone got any ideas.

i know this is probably not what it is called but the belt hub that attaches to rear tire is about 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch from frame, do not see how i could move it out any further then it is ..were the belt comes out of primary case the belt is riding as far out as it can on hub or pulley ??

im guessing here... if the belt isnt aligned , maybe you got the wheel spacers on wrong sides ? if that is even possible....

Double check alignment, and inspect your swingarm pivot bolts. A broken or bent bolt/center section will throw the wheel out of vertical alignment, and cause a similar problem.

im just not sure every thing looks good except belt touching tire it looks like tire is just to big and thats what i thought at first but checked tire size and it is 250/40/18 looked up specs and that is what it calls for .. looking at other side of bike and fender all looks good .

the belt does run close to the tire..@least on my 07 with a 300 it does.. but never touches.. is the belt tight enough?

My wife has an '03 Mastiff and it calls for a 240. Are you sure about those specs? A pic may help us figure this out too.

Re-align and go riding....the alignment for our hard tails is to adjust the the spacing equally on both sides from the front of the axle block to the axle....The belt is real close to the tire and i have experienced the same issue....it's an easy fix.

I agree with Mospeeds& Five Five ;I would start by checking alignment again. All it takes is a quarter turn
on adjuster to fix. I have had mine move a couple of times

I agree, the spacing is very close. You have to use a tape measure to make sure it's correct, eye balling is not an option. I had the same issue a couple of years ago, axle slipped just a touch and the belt starts rubbing.

definitely check alignment but also, what brand is the tire. Avons are original but sometimes people put metzlers on and have an issue with the belt rubbing because metzlers are ever so slightly larger.

I would also check and see what brand tire that you are running if it was just changed it could be some brand like michler it runs a little big and it don't take much. Go to the brand that you are running and check specs and then compare with avon and if you are running a avon the disregard all this.
