Dog Freaking Out

Looking for some help guys.
Went on a ride yesterday, the bike ran fine to the destination, it was on a trickle charger started great in the morning, when I got to the destination to meet my friends the bike would not start back up it just continued to make the crazy clicking noise and would not start, well a group of about 70 was waiting so we jumped it form a car bat, it started up after couple of tries.
Ran fine for about 3 miles then at 70 mph on decel it started freaking out same type of behavior as an empty tank, the same sound, so i clicked over to reserve even though my tank was full. I have to pull over because the bike sounded like it was misfiring and running on one cylinder.

I pulled over checked the batt connectors, checked the wires, checked the plugs everything was fine. No oil leak, nothing, then after starting the bike up again which it did with no problem the lights went on for the tech they were all on, the bike still was sputtering, to make the long story short, it ran enough to get me home it ran great after 2k rpm and sputtered at 1-1500 first gear was not a great idea, also I started it fine today/

Question is this the dreaded EHC problem because it looks like misfire or timing issue. Also I oiled the K&N filter and cleaned the bike before the ride waterless, if that could have done somehting :bang:

Please let me know what you guys think, I am not a new guy to choppers this is my 3rd one but it kind of sucks when the best looking bike in the group takes a shit.

I hope I dont have to buy a new freakign computer.

You think the battery would cause the bike to freak out like that sputter, and misfire?

Yeah. Buy a voltage tester. Hook it on to your terminals. Start your bike. If the tester drops below 8 of 9 volts your battery is shit and need a new one.

Yes, I've been abandoned on the road every year from dead batteries. If your speedo is going crazy and the tach lights are wierd and it's sputtering and quiting and restarting....... That's exactly what mine did coming home from the Redwood Run last year.
Put a volt meter on it and see if you have 12.8 volts then start it if you can and see if you get up to 14 volts.

I will try that I home it is only the batt, what should I buy the Yasa or HD.

I replace mine with the HD batteries every year but others have their own preferances

Make sure to check the volts when you crank it too. A battery can show a full 12.8 charge, then drop when a load is on it to 7 volts. That won't turn your motor.

Do you have any fault lits lite up on it?

My wife has a HD battery, I have a Braille. Both work well. Don't go cheap on a battery. Low voltage makes these dogs do the strangest things. Check that first and if the battery checks out ok, then we can go from there. It's possible that it's something else, but ruling out the battery is your first step.

nothing was on when the bike was on, when you put the key in the nutral light was on and the oil drop was red, cant remeber if it's always there or not before the bike turns over.

The oil light should come on until the bike cranks up.

Ha ha, I'm talking about the lights on the EHC. Those are your fault lights. There are many pictures of the lights and what they mean on here in one of the sections.

Ok good, so going to shop for a batt now, any one get one form Batteries plus?

Not sure what brands they carry. I think Interstate may be the best one I've seen there, but I would still recommend HD or Braille. I've gone the Interstate route and it didn't last 3 months.

HD visit it is today. The bike has the Yusa in it my bet it is the original.
