Concern about an open primary

The BDL is about $1700.00 the 1.5" offset bracket I used was a Primo It cost $100.00. So about $1800.00. A lot of people love the Baker. I am sold on the BDL. Some people like Ford, some like Chevy.

I have a 4" Karata on the pitbull, I love the OP. I have gotten my pant leg caught in the belt and it ripped my pants learned to keep my jeans tight around my boots actually considering ordering a belt guard to cover the front of the belt drive. The 4" is a little large on the pitbull think if I would do it all over again I wouldn't have gone bigger than 3" on such a small bike. K9/Ridge/choppers may look right with a 4". I really like how easy the clutch engages and shifts with the primary and very little maintenance with the OP.

I've only been riding my Husky a 3" open primary for about three months. I've not had a problem with my jeans getting caught, but I do occasionally find my boot heal rubbing against it. Now that I think about, that may be why I had to Gorilla Glue the heel back into place on the old Tony Lama's. But as previously stated in this post, it does look cool.

Just wanted to thank one and all for their feedback. And since Mr. Moespeed has offered that because I asked, an open primary ain't for me. . . . .I will, of course, no longer look or ask about an open primary.:D

Look into BDL before you pull the trigger on Baker! Compare cost also! BDL has been doing this and only this for years!

The offset for the 04 107 is 1 7/16. for the primo unit you need either a 2 inch or 1 1/2 inch spacer to compensate (it comes with a 1/2 inch ) I have the brute iv on my ridgeback. WSW has the whole setup for a great price. easy install

Knows some things
The Ultima's won't fit the Big Dogs. They told me this after I tried to put it on. Good thing I'm a machinist, 3 small modifications, and I was good to go. So if anyone is as cheep as me, I can hook you up.

Keep in mind guys and gals that the 2005-up Big dogs run a totally different primary and transmission from that of the pre 2005. The primary is actually longer, does not have an inner bearing like the standard H-D style, and the transmission is a DSSC (Drop starter slam clutch) not at all the same as the normal RSD. So, the only primary that will work for the 2005-up is Baker and Karata. I would go with a Baker. Baker is less $$ and comes with an outer bearing support, making it a more reliable option than that of the original primary. Giving that extra bearing support, the transmission bearings will last a lot longer. Plus, Baker comes with a full warranty, looks great, and bolts right up with no machining needed.:2thumbs:

I just went with the Baker and i love it. I feel that the bike is now complete with it on there. that side of the bike just looked so bare to me without it and kinda lopsided with the pipes and air cleaner on the other side. At first I thought the baker belt was too narrow and I now see over time that it is just right. No boot or jean clearance issues whatsoever.

:dupe: What about an INTRO first? :dupe:

Then, a couple pics of your Baker would be nice too!
