Think about a 600 cam for the 117 Cui S&S Super Sidewinder.
This are the dates of the 600 cam: Anyone knows the dates of the original Cam?
What more is necessary for change ( Springs, Gaskets extra tools)

Dates=specs I'm assuming from your context. Far as I know there is only one 600 S&S cam

Depending on the actual springs you have, most experts S&S, @john sachs will tell you to replace them

To get the full befit of that cam, they will also recommend to shave the heads/cylinders to raise the compression and go back to the larger valve size like the non EPA motors were. This was the original S&S configuration

I have done all the above and its a remarkable difference.

With that done, what's your gas mileage like?

I think the key to good gas consumption is correcting the compression ratio. The 124 has a 640 lift and Rodger is out there getting damn near 50 mpg on his bike on the highway and I'm sure 40mpg easy roads.

It's just a thought but I would be happy with just a 585 cam installation. Quick, easy and not a lot of work to deal with. Otherwise, I would swap out the 117 and install a 124.

It's just a thought and I know how boys are.......One guy says I have 400 HP, The next guy says I have 600 HP, well the next one says I have 1,000 HP. We just can't be satisfied with a machine that runs well and lasts a long time without doing upgrades, tweaking and more upgrades!

Im not doing crap to mine until it breaks lol...u cant make a race motor dependable but some guys dont understand that...alot of them here where i live just cant leave well enough alone...speed limit only 70 lol...but 585 does make one run better without hurting the reliability of it...i got one setting on the self just incase 520 goes bad lol...oh and a 600 too lol

IMO I don't even want a 600 Cam the power is focused north of 4k and I rarely touch that never mind keeping it up there. As you mention new springs and upping the compression isn't worth it to me.

I'm just a slow poke on the road I guess it's not the destination it's the trip for me. Don't care what the bike does off the line honestly, but it's got plenty stock or even with the 585. I only changed to 585 when I've had it apart to change lifters cause I'm in there otherwise I'd still be using the stock cam.

Exactly....40 is fast enough for me too....if i was in a hurry i would take a car or plane...hard to enjoy the scenary at 80...piss on that im with u 100%

You should get much better gas mileage because you're making the engine a lot more efficient. Proper tune, jetting, timing all play an important part as well.
Some may not experience that, because it's kinda like too much of a good thing. In other words, they want to keep hammering it, you know like a good piece of ass. :D

surprising that no one has mentioned the fact that, with too much done to the motor and putting it north of 125hp/125lbft, things on the back side ain't gonna last long. clutch, tranny, belt ain't meant to take that for very long.
