That Would be Killer on your ridgeback. Baker still makes the kit and the price is about the same. It took about 3 months to sling out all the oil in the coils but the look and ride is all worth it. I would do the install while it is summer to help the oil clear its self out of the charging coils. Other than that I believe you will be very pleased with the drive.

I gotta do that too — I may wait until winter. I‘m nervous about tearing into it - I’ll have a lot of questions I’m sure. Write down a cheat sheet for me !
Great looking flames !!!!!!

Give Erick a call at BigDogPartsKingPin.com and get the boxes. They are simple to exchange and you should have no problems whatsoever. Go to the manual and read up on the torque values and make sure you use the correct thread locker. Other than that simple install....Oh and thanks for the kind words on the flames...

Just so everyone knows, the only open primary Baker stopped making was for the RSD’s and it’s actually just the inner they stopped making. So it’s mostly the K9’s that are affected. I have about 2,000 miles on my baker OP and love it.. No issues whatsoever ever. The bike is lighter and you don't have all that weight to throw around to get going. Acceleration is quicker and the shifts are spot on. I can find Neutral much better at traffic lights. My only negative is that I should have made the conversion years ago.

I have all the parts I think - I got all my parts from Erick and that team— they are great ! I’m gonna to redo tank mounts and fuel lines, rocker boxes and new roller rocker arms -I needed to adjust the valves anyway. Not sure if I need seals or anything for the push rod tubes - only parts I don’t have but they look good now. Thanks and Happy 4th

It took no time to do. Easy assembly and easy cleanup. Here is a photo of my old BoxTops.NZQB7558.jpeg

As you can see on the old boxes they were really showing their age. No matter how I polished them both boxes looked like crap. I tried 0000 steel wool but no luck. So it was an easy choice. Maybe we should have started another thread on the rocker boxes.. Sorry... my bad...

If it were me I would replace the seals on the pushrod tubes to the newer seals while you have the chance. I'm dreading do that myself one of the days.. No leaks for now, so I'm leaving well enough alone. Say Dr. Dave, shoot a couple pictures before and after.

Looking forward to retirement
With the open primary, Belt Drive Limited or BDL is the leader in belt drives. When you see top fuel drag bikes pushing 800-1000 HP their running BDL drives. I’ve run one for 10 yrs now with a BDL lock up clutch. The harder you load the clutch pack with more throttle the harder it grabs. There is NO slippage!! http://beltdrives.com/A777C300-D830-4A62-A980-FD536AEE8AC7.jpeg6F3AC920-2D01-4220-A2EB-E40F46C29276.jpeg7C1C7504-91A5-4E8F-8BBB-D6DB4900F598.jpeg

The BDL is a nice open primary. I might have went with them over the Baker if they made one for my bike. But I have to say, since getting the Baker I’m very impressed and pleased.

I find that having an open one is a detriment to one's pants/leg as it is inevitable that you will touch the rolling belt as you ride...

I don’t know what open primary you have but mine doesn’t come close. I’d have to be wearing bell bottoms from the 70’s to touch my primary

It's the BDL TF 1000, it sticks out so far on the left you can't help but hit it when riding no matter how careful you are, especially due to leg position change from shifting gears and constant on and off the peg foot motion as the result of stop and go activity...
