01 mastiff. went to start bike. will not start. battery on tender so battery is good. bike cranks like crazy with no problem. got plenty of gas getting to carb. pulled each plug one at a time and verified spark. there is a little black box that is sitting on top of battery with a little red light. all wires are connected and seem good. the red light is not on when key is on or when bike is cranked. if i pull off center console, are there lights that might help? any suggestions what i need to check and what the hell is that little black box on the battery.?

I think that is your starter module, if the red light is on it is showing a short, if off all is
OK.
Are you getting spark at the plugs? If so, and you are sure your getting gas to carb it
should fire up unless flooded. If no spark at plugs see if the ign. sensor in nose cone
is flashing when you crank the motor, should flash.

i pulled both plugs one at a time and fired the bike and had spark at both plugs. i have read a few of these posts, would the cam sensor have anything to do with this and can anyone tell me where is it located? i was told also it could be bad gas so i will drain that today from tank and carb and refill to see if things change. appreciate any and all input. thanks

If you have spark, then it should run unless, 1. old gas, 2. flooded, 3. timing incorrect.
If you have not played with the timing it should be OK.
I would drain old gas tank and carb, put new gas in, put new plugs in and it should run. If it does not, I would check the timing.
Ign. sensor/pickup is in the nose cone.

okay, took the suggestions, emptied the tank and carb, fresh fuel, new plugs, and the bike fired up without a hitch. will take it out for a good long drive today to see about any glitches. thanks for the help.

do you remember if the plugs looked wet when you pulled them? NOT FIREING AND GETTING GAS WILL WET THE PLUGS. How old was the gas in the tank.
