04 EHC Replace Help

Energy One

Well Dimentia and I replaced my EHC. The bike had to be brought home on a tow truck 1 month ago, it fired and ran yesterday!! Hell Yea....

Questions fires and runs with the white WP wire touched directly to the + side of the battery. When I combine the white and Blue Red, the lights all come on for 1 sec, then cycle off (so no running lights). Brake, turn signals, horn, off switch all work. Any ideas on why the lights cycle on then off? What voltage is the WP looking for coming back in on the Blue/Red wire?

Does anyone have any info on the lights on the WP modules and what they mean?

Thanks in advance.

Man. I thought I read this exact thing once already today. Am I having a case of the deja vu? I wish I had an answer for you either way.

Looks like you fucked up the installation of the WP. If you got it from Jake, give him a call and he can explain where all them wires go to. I am not to hot on wiring myself and had everything working except lights, I didn't want to fuck with it so I took the harness off and sent it to Jake. The rest is history. My dog runs great, everything works the way it should and then some. Jake knows his stuff about the WP wiring.

I've rechecked the wiring colors in the right sockets quite a few times. That's all correct. Since it's lights not working I've looked at the schematic and it appears it has to do with the red wires 27 through 32. Maybe one of them was incorrectly cut and placed where it shouldn't have been. I don't see on the WP diagram from WP where 29,32 and 50 come from.

Well we figured it out. It wasn't a fuck up on the install, it was a shorted out left rear power wire. That could have been the item causing my issues all along I guess. We pulled the struts, rewired the rear lights, buttoned everything down with the new WP harness and it appears all is good (haven't quite finished yet). Thanks all. Was a learning experience fo show...

If he hadn't put the Wire Plus in it, he would have been throwing EHC's at it for the rest of his life.

I had just sent you a PM telling you that one of your turn signals red wires, is shorted to ground.

Sounds like you found it. I have been on vacation all weekend and just got home.

Jake I helped CJ put his WP in and I am thinking of just replacing mine also. I currently have no EHC issues but do I really want to wait until I get stranded somewhere first??

That was a pretty easy install and I have no wiring experience and watching CJ do that it looked pretty easy. The WP looks like a solid piece of equipment so kudos to you for helping everyone out with it.

I am plan on tearing my motor down this winter and doing some mods so I just might go ahead and swithc over to the WP!!!
