So i went for a ride yesterday and had to limp back in 2nd gear. It shifted to 2nd fine no noise nothing abnormal and when I tried to shift it went way up and didn't make with anything, it does the same thing trying to go to first. I haven't had any problems with clutch or tranny til now so not familiar with it yet. Anyone that could point me in the right direction as to what I need to replace would be much appreciated. Thanks

Check the external shift lever on the transmission. Sometimes the bolt will back out and the lever will rotate on the splines. If you don't see anything simple, pull the trans lid and see whats up.

I pulled the top cover on the tranmission and figured out the shaft on the shifter pawl going to the shift lever is what is the cause. Kind of looks like it could have been welded a bit better. So at least it shouldnt cost much to fix! Anyone familiar with these what all am i going to have to disassemble to remove the shifter pawl?
