05 Bulldog slight knock/tap primary chain?

I know my chain has been on its last leg the tensioner is adjusted all the way up, I found that out last year. I finally ride a bit yesterday and noticed a noise coming from my primary area sight knocking/tapping at lower rpm’s I’m hoping is just chain slap. What yall thinking? It runs and sounds great sitting at idle, just when riding is when I hear it. Also my clutch is getting kinda spongy and I adjusted it and then I noticed I was slipping when I ride it and would get into it and noticed it wasn’t pulling hard. Do I need a clutch or clutch cable? Or just more precise adjustments? Tia

One thing after another with these ol dogs huh … does that sound like what the issue is? No power loss, and not too loud but in 3rd and 4th low rpm’s I could def hear a knocking on my right side, I know very little about these bikes or any bikes actually. But I learned quite Bit throughout the last year having to replace the starter, epc module, Speedo, clutch carrier, and backbone harness. I’m about 14k into it so far so I’m praying it’s just the chain bc I noticed some slack when I had it all apart and the next adjustment was the LAST adjustment on tensioner. I’ve only rode it twice since then. Any other advice or tips for preventative maintenance and to check for before riding season truly starts and I’m on this sucker everyday? It’s got progressive shock underneath it, but I don’t think it’s any good bc when I hit a bump on this mother fucker it damn sends me off the bike and I’m not exaggerating!

And far as I know this bike is stock, would it be worth it to put a G carb and intake on it? Or should I just go take out the spacer and keep the super E? This thing doesn’t do too bad, but for a 117 it’s a fuckn turd I’d like to add about 20 hp without spending thousands of dollars. I’m pretty mechanically inclined so I can most myself just don’t have a lot of time to do long jobs. Also I really need a 2 up seat if anyone has one for sale and can find me one for a decent price I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thanks yall

Not to rain on your parade but, your bike is in dire need of a lot of work.
Why u say that? Just a chain… that’s not too bad. But idk if my clutch cables stretched out or if it just needs adjusted bc I can hear a squeaking in the primary area when I pull the clutch, or let out. And when I first ride the bike it feels and clutches fine, but after 30 minutes or so it feels like I lost half my clutch and hard to shift

It sounds like you have a few things going on. I would first get my drive/noise problems fixed before moving on to engine upgrades for more power.
Pull your primary cover and see what's going on. If the bike needs the chain replace it. Maybe your new carrier has issues. The noise from the right side may be a worn drive belt or rear drive pulley. A little investigation now will save you from possible additional damage.

Reference your fly away moments when you hit a bump. Could it be your front end? Have you ever serviced your fork oil and seal kit. Is it possible your seals have leaked out the fork oil and you have no oil or the fork oil is compromised from never being changed. If your not getting action from your front end inspect the seals for leaks. When I first bought my 06 pitbull my left leg was empty from a leaky seal and the right leg had original fork oil. My front end was stiff and I had the same problem. I cleaned it up, fresh fork oil and new fork seal rebuild kit and it was like have shocks on the front end.

You shouldn’t have a super e on a 117.

I found these on Amazon is this a good deal? Where could I get the insulator block and intake manifold that I need? …. Also I just realized realized that my primary is on the left side and the noise I was hearing was on the right side? Could it still be the chain or something else? I’ma knucklehead sometimes I apologize for my ignorance guys, bear with me lol
