07 k9 idle for approx 3minutes dies wont start back

start my 07 k9, runs for approx. 3 or 4 minutes then dies horn blasts until I turn key off, wont start back. Try to start it back, turn key on, the speedo doesn't light up and after about 5 seconds the hazard lights and horn come on. Leave it alone for hour come back try to start it. starts again runs for about 3 minutes then dies again.

Sounds like a bad battery, it's weak...

battery is only 3 months old

did not charge battery during time away. at one time put a battery booster on it, and it still would not respond after dying.

Suggest you check the battery volts while you have it running. Should be above 12 volts, if not it could be a bad voltage regulator or even a short somewhere. Whats the cold cranking Amp rating on your battery?

Keep in mind, just because it's a new battery doesn't mean that it's good. Most folks will tell you that after buying a new battery they put it on a battery tender for a few hours before starting their bikes. Just food for thought!

just for chits and giggles try disconnecting battery then reconnect and try again,just sayn, i really dont have a clue

How old is the gas?

That 13.3 volts may be a little low. My 08 idles at 13.84 volts.

I'm just going to throw this out there for ya. I know it sounds like its electrical but, could it possibly be a vapor lock in the gas tank not allowing gas to flow. I know if I dont open the petcock, mine will idle for about 2 mins or so. maybe the horn and flashers are just related to a low battery at the point when it dies. also, do you keep the battery on a tender?

Sounds like a weak battery to me.
