07 K9 SHUTS OFF WHILE RIDING

Here we go. It was 92 degrees out yesterday and went for a short ride about 60 miles round trip. On my way home on the open interstate, my bike decides to completely shut off. Flashers went on and cruzed to the side of the rode. Turned off key and back on and started right up. About 8 miles down the rode, same thing. Made it home and now it looks like I'll be doing some troubleshooting. All I have done recently is install the HID kit about 300 miles ago. I also had the oil pressure switch wire come loose and had to reclamp that but no biggie.

How old is the battery and is charging system up to snuff? I would also check harness connection to EHC maybe install some dielectric grease.

Computer is going bad. I had the exact same problem the first summer I had mine. Big Dog replaced it free (new style) and haven't had any problems since.

Things to consider, key switch failing, ignition module failing after getting hot, loose wire connections, moisture in the ehc connections, battery connection loose, battery failing.

Sorry guys, haven't had too much time to start troubleshooting. I'll post an update this evening on my findings.

My EHC did the same thing within 6 months after I got my K9. Big Dog replaced it at no cost back then, when they were still in business!

It's been running fine every since, not skipping a beat ('knock-on-wood' ).

However, I'm still hesitiant to plan any long distance trips on it, wondering if it might happen again out on the open road, in the middle of nowhere...:bang::rant:

Same thing happened here...EHC went bad...actually it was one of the little prongs inside the connectors that had actually shorted and then sorta like rusted and or disentagrated...I actually bought time by cutting a paper clip and inserting it where that particular prong went to give me back a connection ...and rode most of that summer like that until new EHC came in....
Definately the same exact symptoms as you are having.....

Look up all of my posts. Most are due to the exact same prob. I have posts the things ive done but still haven't figured it out. Still need to look inside throttle housing, check ignition module and coil wires. It is so frustrating but I'm hoping I can find the prob. As soon as I figure it out I'll update my posts. Good luck. Went out the other day and it died 4 times within about 10 miles.

looks like it was the oil pressure switch connection intermitting. Put a new connection on and have had no problems since.
