2004 Big Dog Chopper

My name is Rick from Livingston Texas. Good Morning. I have a 2004 Big Dog Chopper that has a serious whine in the primary after putting it in the shop for the clutch shipping. The whine speeds up and slows down with the rpm’s. Any ideas? Thanks.

Welcome from Kansas. May have the primary chain misadjusted? Skip the shop n learn to wrench yourself. It aint too hard. Here is s vid to get ya started. Get her ready n come ride with the Dogs in Sept in Arkansas.

Thanks for the tip. You know I do work on my own stuff we moved 2.5 years ago now I have no shop. I work 15 hours a day and drive 780 miles a week back and forth to work so I thought I’d let the shop take care of this. They are great people but see to be struggling with this one. They also had starter rebuilt and put bump starter and new battery and still won’t charge is it possible the whining is the stater.

That is another another possibility if the battery is not charging. Have the battery load tested first to make sure its good. Many a "new" battery has had bad cells. Ck the compensator also when you open the primary. They will make a racket when they go south.

Welcome from NJ,
I would get a mechanics stethoscope and try to isolate the area of whine. Have you checked your trans fluid level?
