I just got this bike and it ran great. i went out to start it and it turned over and would not start the day before yesterday,. I did this until the battery ran down. I thought maybe low voltage so I bought a new batttery, I tuned the gas on throttled twice and pulled up the choke. It tuned and turned and turned. i did this in 5 to 10 sec intervals then it kinda back fired. i let it set for a minute and tried it agian. nothing now the new battery is ran down. I have it on a trickle charger now. Nearest big dog repair is hour away in winston salem nc. Any ideas? I can smell gas but it seems like no fire?? Please help/:confused:

first off, it's not a choke, it's an enrichener. works opposite of a choke by dumping raw fuel into the carb. you more than likely flooded the thing and fouled the plugs. completely dry the plugs or replace them and give plenty of time for the fuel to evaporate.

second, not just any battery is strong enough to turn a big inch motor. you have got to have a fully charged 12.8 volt/320 cca battery at minimum to do the job and a new battery should have been on a deep cycle charge for at least 8 hours before installation. read up on what the preferred batteries are on here.

third, go to the introduction section and tell us a little about yourself and your dog. will make people like you better.

Thats cause you are using the enricher (choke as you call it). It floods the motor real fast. Stop using it and learn how to start it without.

Not to jack the thread, but what is the point of the enricher if everyone says don't use it? As for you queazer, check to make sure you have a spark and plenty of fuel.

I only use it for a cold engine start, but I mean really cold. Most of the time a couple of pulls on the throttle after you've left the fuel petcock open and it should start.:D

the enrichener is there if needed, it just so happens that its rarely required unless its really cold. Some say the engine gets addicted to the enrichener and becomes hard to start without it. A twist or two on the throttle prior to starting should be all thats needed.

As allready stated, just there for those very very cold days. When used, just enough to get it to fire, then shut the enricher off and use the throttle gingerly to keep the RPM in a good idle until she warms.

Two full twist of throttle, run start and let her warm up takes care of almost any starting situation, the few times I used the enricher was when it was down in the 30's and just barely pull it up, never recall pulling it all the way out and as soon as she got fired, pushed it back and use the throttle to get her to stay above idle until she go warm enough to do it herself.

Hell I know OI have rode the BG down into the teens before, and cannot recall having the enricher out for more than maybe 1-2 sec after she fired and it would have only been part way at that.

a free K9 from work, sounds like my kind of place.
I live in South Fl never very cold. I only use the choke
when initionally starting my 06 K9 never twist the throttle,
soon as she starts I start pushing it back in. Listen to your motor
keep it just above an idle for a minute or two.
Don't get too excited every bike, just as every rider is a little diffrent.
You will enjoy that K9 :)
