Thinking of doing a 30 inch front wheel on my 03 big dig chopper.
Can I change trees to like a 5.5 degree to lower front end back down so frame is at original ride height?
Thanks for advise

Is that like choppers with bitch seats?

To wrap bandanas around my ankles to ride it?
Just trying to fit n.. U tell me?

You will likely have to do custom trees because the angle is likely to be oddball
I just gave you the price on the forks a couple posts back
$165 for a set
And to hell with the ball busters
Its your ride
Do what you want

That's right it's your ride make it the way you want it. Go to American Suspensions web site. They have an explanation of front end geometry. It is a science to get it correct. There may also be some threads on this site about it.

No, you'll really fit in if you put spinners on the dang thang...:roll::roll:

Don't get me wrong Ray,certain bikes look good with bigger front rims,I just don't think a 30 inch looks good on a choppa, but everyone has their own taste as to what looks good and what looks bad, some of us are just giving u our honest opinion, ultimately you'll be the one riding it.

If I remember correctly (getting old is a bitch), simple front end geometry goes like this.
If you draw a line through your frame neck (tripple tree pivot) it should hit the ground 3 or 4 inches behind the contact patch of the front tire (contact patch is directly below the axle). If it hits too close, or in front or the contact patch, you will have a caster wheel effect (think front shopping cart wheel).
So if you shorten the tubes it will effectively bring the axle rearward and possibly not help. I think adding degrees in the triple trees would be the better way to go, as to how much, I haven’t done the math.

One other thing you need to consider is stopping that thing. I know a guy who builds those baggers with the big front tires and he recommends dual brakes, there is a lot of rotating mass to stop with that wheel and tire.
