5 speed vs 6 speed

I am having to use a friends transmission to get my big dog boxer going. The original was tore to pieces and an awesome friend has a 5 speed Jims that will work in it and is graciously letting me put it in my bike. My question is: Besides the 6 gear being a highway gear, is there any other advantages or disadvantages to changing it to a 5 speed instead of the 6 speed?

Sometimes when I ride in the city I miss my old 4-speed FLH. The only bike I really liked with a 6-speed is a dirt bike. Guess it depends on where you like to ride.

True. Mainly inner city but some highway

You should be fine then....only advantage with 6 gear is 65 plus mph

just keep an eye on your tach and don't over-rev.
