comin home last week i notice the brand new speedo needle jump from 70 to like 0 real quick and back again and the bike skip a beat,did it a few times comin down highway and then the headlite blew,replaced headlite went to dc and at bamboo bernies the bike was dead,wouldnt turn over..click click clik goes the starter,get a hotshot get on home notice the speedo bounce a coupla times and the bike skip a beat.today cleaned all terminals for battery and made sure battery terminals were tight...tonite go out to pick up a hottie nonetheless and as i am headin over her house the bike dies while riding like 70 mph...i go to pull over to the side,hit the starter,bike starts right up jump back on beltway.....did this 4 times goin to her house,knew something was wrong,after gettin there finally went inside for a minute came out bike dead wont turn over,called my boy and put the bike in a trailer and took it home.....07 chopper just got it back from dealer before all this happened for warranty on speedo and had a starter that was an issue and leaked oil thru it...please tell me what opinions are with these issues,,,couldnt tell you what lights are lit under the seat or whatnot bike is at my shop ,also battery i just got in october and it stays on a trickle charger...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
because of the speedo jumpin all around and the battery not wanting to turn over the bike ...makes me think issue is electrical and not fuel

mines doin the same sorta thing. Speedo jumps all around,and bike hiccups. I think I'm starting to hate this fukkin thing.

That was the same thing my bike did both times that the Voltage Regulator went south!!!

Speedo jumped all over, engine started missing and died going 60 mph down the road. First time it was dead to the world because it took out the EHC with it. The second time I push started it and made it home before the battery was completely dead.

all information i am reading both in the manual and on this site has me puttin my money on voltage regulator...we will see,still under warranty ,takin to shop tuesday.....

jimizee028 if you get an answer please post it or PM me as I have been trying to fix my K9 for over a year now. So far 3 BD dealers, 2 BD service centers and 6 independent shops with no fix. Thanks for any information. - Gary C

compufire what????? what is a compufire?....the good thing is right now i am still under warranty so i aint comin outta my pocket with no money for no parts...now in 2 months my warranty is up so at that time it will become a different story........k9nut...do you have a manual???and have you went through the process of diagnosing exactly what is wrong with your bike yourself????if you have any kind of mechanical ability and can follow direction ,mostly every diagnosis for every problem is on this website and or in the manual....what is the issue with your bike anyway???????

My problem is very much like yours. When the bike is cold it runs good. When it gets up to operating temps it will start missing and some times it stops running. Many times the miss will clear up after a couple miles, run good for a few miles and start missing again. Sometimes it quits and I have to let it sit for an hour before it will start. When it is missing the speedo and tachometer go crazy. Yes I have a manual and while I don't consider myself a wrench I have worked on my bikes and cars over the years. I spent the first few months trying things myself and then decided it was best left to the pros. The bike is out of warranty so it has been a very expensive unsolved problem. I have posted before and got a lot of good suggestions from this group. All of the posts and "try this" suggestions were tried by me and/or the Dealers, Service Centers and Independent chopper shops who have worked on the bike. As your problem is kind of the same I was hoping to find out what fixes yours to see if it is something that will help me. Good luck and please post or PM me when you find the problem. I do not want to hijack your thread and discuss my problem here. I am just looking for new ideas. Thanks - Gary C

well they wound up changing voltage regulator got 2 miles from pickin up at shop and bike did same thing ,took it back explained again what was the issue and he grabbed an ignition module off the shelf and stuck it on and i drove it home with no problems so far,i am not settled on this beings the completely solved problem,but thats just my cynical nature........with so many horror stories about the electrical systems on these bikes i just tend to think i will be one in the 25,000 to have a phuked up bike instead of hittin the lottery...my odds seem to sway that way more ....:bang: :bang: :bang: :roll: there was no missing or complete shut down ,or bouncy speedo so i should look at the glass 1/2 full

no scuba i havent been to myrtle beach since 2002 when my nite train was stolen..me and my boy rode 450 miles today without a hiccup and the battery fully charged and kickin..so between the voltage regulator and the ignition module i feel good.........
