Another EHC Problem? Need Help

Hey guys just joined yesterday and hoping to get some advice before I take my 2009 Mastiff in for repair (don't want to be clueless). This past weekend, i rode in Galveston - awesome place where bikers are welcomed everywhere. Anyway, I had a problem with the bike as follows. Stopped for gas. When I tried to start the bike, the speedometer lit up and lights came on, but bike would not crank. I turned the ignition off but the speedometer and lights stayed on even after removing the key from the ignition....very weird. I tried to switch on and off several times but the electrical system appeared to be locked. I disconnected the positive cable to the battery and reconnected back on and the electrical system reset. I was able to start the bike and everything seemed normal except for the headlights that kept switching to high beam on its own. I switched back to low beam only to have the bike switch back to high after a few seconds. The same thing (electrical system lock and switching to high beam) occurred several times during the weekend....not everytime, but did occur 3-4 times. Any ideas? Could it be the EHC gone bad?

Appreciate any help or advice you may have

The EHC is designed to switch back to HI beam when the current load on the LO beam is sensed too low (burnt out low beam)....meaning the LO beam is bad. It could be a bad bulb or a melted bulb socket which is not uncommon.

As for the EHC acting up and won't turn off, it could be a low battery voltage. The battery must be at 12.8v or higher in order for the EHC to function properly. Disconnect the + battery terminal, disconnect the EHC harness connectors and clean the old dielectric grease in the harness connectors and refill them the reassemble to the EHC module. Sometimes the key switch contacts can go bad and cause intermittent operation. This may be caused by hanging too much heavy junk on the key ring.

Try these and let us know.

If the key switch is bad PM me and we can workout something for my old key switch I removed after installing WirePlus key switch.
