I have a 2003 chopper
I have had some start problems, I also have read post until my eyes are sore
this is where i'm at now rebuilt the solenoid...installed a button start...works great bike starts..will not start by start switch, battery good 325crank amps..was getting a red light on the starter relay BD4121 1S have removed it in the process of getting a new one which I'm having trouble finding if any one knows where I can buy one that would be great.

1st am I going in the right direction
2nd do I need that relay if I choose to start the bike with the button
3rd is there a way to bypass the relay and not do the complete wire plus thing being a little cheap at this time
Thanks Kevin

The plunger on the starter is an awesome thing, and I recommend it for everyone. It gives the starter no choice but to work if you lose a relay, solenoid, or starter controls. I'd leave that in there, and there is no problem with using it. The last 2 bikes I built have nothing but the plunger, no starter control on the bars. A HD relay should work, but have you tested to make sure the computer is sending 12v to the relay when you hit start? I'm assuming by "red light on the relay" means you tested it and it's bad?
