Battery wiring problems?

Happy New Year!

2008 PitBull

I have been through batteries as many of you know. Most recently, I switched to a HD Soft Tail battery due to the higher CCA's. I even bought their tender. For some reason, it's flashing amber - meaning battery not charging. After initial installation, it cranked and ran fine. There are a few wires that have never been connected. Came that way. Is anyone able to help or have a diagram?

Thanks,
bkingjr

Are you saying you have factory wires that are not and never were hooked up?

Yea. A diagram of what?

Tender flashing amber means it's charging if I remember correctly. Turns to solid green when fully charged and holding the battery constant.

But if it never quits flashing, it will soner or later turn to sloid amber. Telling you the battery is bad or not charging for some reason. It will also do that when the fuse is blown on the tender as well.

But I'm still  as to what diagram?

dead

If tender is flashing it should mean that it is not charging. Constant red when charging, flashing green when close and solid green when charged.

That is my tender.

Check and see if you have an inline fuse in the tender that is blown.

As for wires that are unhooked????????????

I would like to see a wiring diagram. That way I can see what wires do not connect. Yes, it came that way. There are no inline fuses on this tender. Flashing amber means battery not charging.

I've never seen a tender without a inline fuse. That sounds kind of scary if you'd ask me.

Tender or Bike wiring diagram?

Billy it has a tender wire fuse under the seat. I have seen it. (unless it was removed by someone else?) Fuse must be blown in wire connector under seat.

Yes 2008 and up factory, BDM installs the tender lead so you don't have to mess with it. The Pitbull takes a bit more time to get to the Battery so a good idea by BDM.
If you have already installed a new battery did you hook up the tender leads again?
As far as wires being unhooked, yes there are a few not being used near your battery. I would think someone on hear would have already downloaded a wiring diagram for you. If I knew how to copy the one I have I would post it for ya.
Have you checked the charging output? Voltage Regulator and output on the Stator and rotor?
If the battery turns out to be junk then I would try to warranty it with H-D.

as tech said are you absolutely sure that your tender is actually connected to the battery?

bkingjr, if you are connecting a different brand charger to your pre-wired Batter Tender brand pigtail you may not be getting a good connection at the plug. I had a different brand charger on my dog then I bought a Battery Tender brand charger and just hooked it up to my pigtail and sometimes it would charge and sometimes it would not. Hook a Battery Tender brand charger to it or just twist the plug around and watch the led on the charger to see if it makes a difference. I have since swaped out the pigtail and installed the matching Batter Tender and no problems.
