Belt clearance...

Thank to this forum and thank to your good advice I have managed to do the wire plus conversion and to install a Dynatek 2kI on my 2004 Bulldog.

Knowing nothing about eletricity, and living in europe where no one knows anything about our bikes, that was quite a feat, so thank you all for that!

I am now facing another little problem...

After searching the forum for advice, I decided to change my punctured HD Dunlop rear tire for a 260 Metzeler.

I read on the web that the Metz was narrower than the HD tire, but in the real world the belt rubs on the tire.

It does not rub a lot, and not always, I can mainly feel it during turns.

Does anyone know of a proven technique to shave a few mm off the tire?

I would have to this at home with little specialised equipment...

Thank you in advance!

Not sure that I would do that. Could mess with the integrity of the tire. Il let some one else chime in on this one.

I read some where I think on this site that some one used a angle grinder with tire spinning removed small amount of tire edge, I'd check it out before I did it though

I think that was the case had it running & in low gear, I'd be carefull, I'm not sure I'do it I'm just saying someone here did it dont know how it worked out but sounds like trueing for a side wall, along time ago thay used to true tires (the tread)

Local dealer here did one for a guy. He had the tire changed out of town and brought it in to them because the belt was rubbing. They put the bike on the lift, in gear, and run a die grinder with the face surface of a cut of wheel on just that sharp corner and took about 1/8" off of it with no concerns for tire integrity. You will be very safe if you stay within a 1/8"
