I've already had to replace 2 of them, get them from big dog dealer, but be prepared to wait awhile, thay always take 3-4 weeeks . thinkin of gettin a new set of pipes that dont hang so low in future, tired or replacing them

do a search i think there is some one that makes that heat sheild that will work on the vanes and hines thats a little bit shorter,so they dont drag on the ground on hard right turns

last I heard...I think someone said they were around $130 for the shorter bottom shield....then you have to cut about a inch off the pipe itself being that the shield is shorter

you have to buy the shields direct from V&H only. I can tell you all 4 are $400 plus tax and shipping

If vicki is still around I got the aftermarket , shorter version from her awhile back. You will end up cutting a couple inches off of the stock pipe for it to work, no big deal. Looks good. Mine doesnt scrape anymore.

I got another one from Mad Dog Cycles in Calif. ... I don't drag anymore because it's made about 1 1/2" shorter. :flag:

What's your take on the V&H Big Radius 2-into-1 pipe? It seems to ride a little higher than the 2:2 set-up, and is supposed to generate a little more power. Here's an excerpt from an e-mail response I received from V&H:

"Thanks for the question on the Big Dog products.

We are not scheduled to do any black exhausts for the Big Dog family of products.

Regarding performance - Big Radius 2-1 vs Big Radius 2-2:
The big radius 2-1 greatly out performs the 2-2 version. On a stock 96, the
2-1 will give you 3-5 hp/tq on the top end over the 2-2. The 117 should be a
little stronger, to say the least. But you will really notice the difference
with the 2-1 on the bottom end and mid range where you will see significant
power gains as well. And the 2-1 will have a deeper, mellower sound, which
you will really appreciate with the 117.

Thanks for supporting Vance & Hines."
