Bolting back Clutch/Trans assembly after Clutch cable change

I'm putting back together everything after replacing my stretched clutch cable. After insterting the long rod from the outer housing into the Tranny assembly, I put the nut back on and can't figure out what keeps the nut in place.

thread the rod in till the plates meet.

back off 1/2 a turn

while holding the rod from spinning with an allen, tighten nut

The clutch actuator rod screws into the outer plate of the ball and ramp assembly.

I ran out adjustment like the Guy from Aus., cable was stretched. During re-assemble they said screw the rod in. No threads on end of long rod?

Do you have a picture of the rod with no threads? Sounds like the clutch nut backed off might have to pull the primary cover off.

This is the pics from my 06 K-0 RSD. End of rod is smooth.
No threads. Is everything ok with this rod or is it damaged?
That is the end that goes into the transmission first. The other end has the threads. Make sure you put a good amount of grease onto the whole rod before you install it into the transmission. Once you thread the rod in, thread it in till it just stops, not a hard turn, lightly. Make sure your clutch cable adjustment is completely loose before you make your final pushrod adjustment. You want to back the pushrod out 1/4 turn after you feel a slight drag, not 1/2 turn. Once you have 1/4 turn out, tighten the locknut down while holding the pushrod with the allen wrench. Then go to your clutch cable adjustment, adjust this until you have 1/8" of free play at the lever.
Let us know if you have any other issues.
Good luck:2thumbs:

Oh and another note, that pushrod is the older style. They had an update for that. You can put that rod onto a lathe and turn .005" off so it will have more clearance between the pushrod and transmission mainshaft. Or you can purchase another one from BDM for around $60.
