Brake fluid

Ok I know it calls for dot 5 fluid in the manual. Never Used dot 5 in anything before. Only stuff I could find locally was motor medic dot 5 from O’reilly. It’s purple. The fluid in the reservoir is brownish like other brake fluids I’ve used in past. I assume the color is just due to likely different manufacturers. Just making sure I don’t need to bleed the whole system or anything and can add a little fluid to front and rear reservoirs. Sorry for the dumb question of the day.

Ok it’s a light brown that’s in there so guess it will be a flush while at the dealer. I don’t have a mighty vac or anything which I assume speeds up the process a lot

It's probably just dirty. It doesn't stay that purple forever, after a few years it's more clear and the longer it's in there the browner it gets, I've seen some real nasty shit before probably had never been changed in 20 years.

I think it's really just a little dirt works it way into the system which makes it the brown color. When you clean out the Master cylinder there always seems to be a little dirt stuck in the corners.

I would flush the system anyways, if it's brown it will turn your new fluid brown. Anytime I do my breaks I flush out the couple ounces the system holds. Cheap pneumatic vacuum at Harbor freight that does the job in a few second.

What process do you use for say the mightyvac? Maybe I’ll pick one up from harbor freight today. Is it start pressure with reservoir cap off. Release bleed screw and Make sure to keep reservoir full? I assume there’s a way to stop pressure while refilling reservoir
