Lights come on fine when I use my rear brakes. Problem is, is that I dont use those very often. When I use my front brakes, light does not activate:bang: Would it be the little switch inside of the controlls?

No, Waycool, but I just completed the whole assembley. The bike was completley tore down and re built. Lights worked fine before.

That would be a good place to start. Last time I had my right control apart is when I installed new grips. Some thing shot out when I pulled it apart. I never did find out what it was or where it went. Now my brake lever doesn’t return properly. Be careful when pulling it apart.

kornfed, there is a little magnet there just inside of the lever housing. Check to see if it is still there. This is what activates the switch in the housing.

Had my 500 mile service done at iron lightning . Matt ordered me a new brake light switch under a recall . My rear brake light does not come on with the foot brake . I havent even looked for the switch . I assume its by the rear brake .

Thanx Dugan, but my foot brake works fine. Its my front brake, thats giving me problems. havent got a chance to look at it yet. The weather has been nice, so I would rather ride it and save the manual labor for a rainey day. Its going to be around 50 tomarrow, so I may do it then. :2thumbs:

These will help you out! Sorry for the shitty pictures but these were copied from the shitty/cheap CD version of the Service Manual. :D

Kornfed, I just changed out my rt hand circuit board when I was having my troubles. When I put her back together, the brake light (hand control) would not work. I didnt even notice. When I took it to Strokers to have everything checked out, they found it and said it was a switch in the hand control. My service guy even pointed at the thing. If you look real close you can see what appears to be the magnet that kinda looks like a plunger. I intend to tear it apart and and fix her again.

Service guy said for $85 dollars an hour he can fix it...I said for $85 dollars an hour I can remove two screws and a set screw an TRY to fix it!

help

Ok my rear brake light seems to work some of the time, other times they lights just stay on and the front one doesnt not work at all. My speedo has trouble keeping up under hard take off or just cracking the throttle. I noticed when i got off to open the garage door the lights started this. Any ideas besides the magnets? Battery is on a tender all the time and about a year old. It did get weak when it was in the shop for almost two months because the dealer didnt have it on any tender i guess, not real sure .

TLB,
it looks like maybe your brake light circuit is shorting out duplicating the 'brakes on' function for the lights.

Brake light issue fixed. The "probe" attached to the rt hand circuit board was not seated in far enough. Pushed it in a little further, put it back together and everything works..
