Caliper rebuild

Most don't think about servicing your brakes. They worked fine last year.
I'm working on one, both front and rear calipers wouldn't release. I should have took a picture of the sludge in the master cylinders.

It took me 2 full days to get the pistons out. Air pressure wouldn't move them. Hooked them back on the bike, bled the air out, and finally got a few to move. Soaked the last one in penetrative fluid for a day, still wouldn't move. Finally realized that the inside diameter, was the hole size for a 1 1/8-12 tap. Screwed a bolt in it and used a slide hammer to pull it out.

Now to soak all this in carb cleaner, and start fixing all the fu@%& up parts

Let this be a reminder to everyone that after sitting all winter you should give your bike a good once over. Check everything twice before you get out on the road. Sitting in the garage is hard on the old bike. Seals dry out and many more things you just don’t think about. Good luck everyone and safe travels.

I know most of you don't have a lathe, but you can chuck it up in a drill also.
If you had to use vice grips to get the pistons out of the caliper, it's going to have some maring. I bought a rubber expansion plug to grip the inside of the piston, to spin it, and use some emery cloth or scotch pad on then.
