Changing Fork Oil....

Can anyone please tell me how to change out the oil from my 02 ProSport...It's starting to bottom out when I cross railroad tracks and although I've had a 10K done on it a couple of times over the years, I don't think that they changed out the oil and now I fear that it doesn't have any in there!...It's not leaking anywhere, just bottoming out!...There is a flat round cap on top of the forks with two small holes on top. What special tool do I use to remove this cap?

You have inverted forks. You will need an adjustable spanner wrench to take off the top cap. Put some tape over it so you don't scratch the caps up. To drain the fork tubes, you will have to remove them from the triple trees. When you put fluid back in do not over fill or it will make your front end hard as a rock. If you need the amount, let me know and I will look it up for you. I got it from Mean Street and they made the front ends for our bike. You may consider doing seals and bushings since you will have it torn down to do the fluid.

I have an '01 wolf and that cap is just held on by an o-ring. A small screwdriver will pop it off, but try to pull it up evenly or you'll screw up the o-ring.

Mick, thanks for the phone conversation today, my email is rca1952@q.com if you need to send me anything. Before I start taking down the front end again, I'm going to order some seal tools for proper installment...scooter
