On an 04 pitbull is the compensating sprocket proprietary? Or are there aftermarket solutions available?
Thanks....

Do you have a 24 or 25 tooth sprocket? I have a compensating sprocket on my 2004 Chopper and have the stock # for the 25 tooth but havent pulled the trigger on buying it. Our tranny isnt like the 05s and newer so at 90 mph we are pushing 3 grand. Cant run 90 all day like I want.

My 2 cents

Well crap. Now I can't remember .....I'll have to double check when I get off work...all I've got is the speedo so I'm clueless as to rpms.

Thanks for the schooling Dakota...so is the sprocket proprietary to BDM or Baker? As a side note what would be the best replacement chain? My chain has stretched (too loose) n im out of tolerance and adjuster and I believe my sprocket is the source of my squeals n chirps....

just take your chain off count the links or take it to any HD Dealer and have them measure it. How many miles on that dog? Think someone over tightened it to have it streach that much. Mine has almost 40K and I have atleast an inch of adjustment left

or you might be able to take a link out but thats alot

I hate squeeks too check your final drive belt and make sure your rear wheel is running true

I just turned over 18000. The original owner seemed to be a bit rough on my puppy. She's got battle scars all over. No telling how rough she was treated. The guy I bought her from hardly rode it. Maybe 400 miles in two years! I've been fighting belt chirp from the start. Back pully is shot. Replaced the tires an got the rear within .010 so I'm left with replacing the pully an belt eventually. This squeal just showed up so I know its not the belt.... I still hear the belt too! What fun. The new squeal shows up about 30+MPH an is louder on decelerating.

hmmm Well I dont think the primary chain drive is the churp but hell stranger things have happened. Your chain should not be "TIGHT" grrr I dont think

Dang now I might run out and check mine:bang:

Thats one thin abut helping others you wonder and think DAMN WONDER IF MINE IS LIKE THAT

Well when I checked the chain tolerance I was on the loose side so I moved my adjuster n realized I was out of travel on the adjuster! SO I'm guessing my chain has stretched to to point of needing to be replaced. As long as I'm changing out the sprocket I might as well put in a new chain too. Any suggestions on a good chain? I've heard some recommend Diamond?
