Bring It!
I havea 05 chopper and I haven't rode it in a while. went to start it and you heard the starter engage into the gear but it wouldn't spin and light dimmed out. A few other times trying to turn it over it sounded like the starter was grinding and a few times it would spin the motor over. It is kept on a trickle charger. My battery was 2 years old so I wanted to get the braille but I got a new interstate same day. I installed new battery and same problem. I had a new starter also as a spare so I installed that also. and again same problem. I hooked up jumper cables to the battery then to the starter seeing if the cables were going bad and still same problem. then I unhooked the green wire on the starter and ran a test lead from the battery pos. to the starter green and the bike cranked over fine. I tried it multiple times until it started cranking slower and it never missed a beat. So has anyone had a problem like this? Does this tell you guys anything. Does the green wire go to the ehc? Could that be dropping voltage to the green wire? I have to wait until tomorrow to get my voltmeter to test that but wanted to ask anyone out there.
