Cylinder Install - tricks?

This possibly a dumb Q - manual clearly specifies use of ring compressor to install cylinders - is this really only option? Any tricks out their like using mom's cooking utensils or other so I don't have to buy a tool for one time use?

Ya you can hammer them in with mom's frying pan or rolling pin or compress the rings with mom's jar opener.

You could probably borrow a ring compressor or you can use your fingers if you can get someone to install the cylinder while you compress the rings one at a time. :loony:

Zen, go buy a large 4 1/2" radiator clamp and you can do them one at a time!

Most of your auto parts stores allow you to rent tools like that.... as long as you don't break them there really isn't any real charge to do so. Its a service they offer.

I had an instructor tell the class one day, "Don't be a "FOOL", use the "RIGHT TOOL"! It's always worked for me! :2thumbs:
