Rode the bike about 2 miles, filled up with gas. Leaving the station, the bike started fine, then shut down like it was not getting gas. I could only Rev the motor to about 3k and then it would cut out. Had to work the gas to keep it alive for about 2 miles home and couldn't make it to 20mph.

Gas is full, Gas is turned on. bike is carb'd, with 250miles on it. Battery was fully charged and kept on charger. Terminals are tight

Any one????

Try loosening your gas caps a little. They may not be venting correctly. See if that works..!!

Well you might want to pull off the fuel line make sure you got good flow. Also make sure plenty is getting into the carb after that.

I used the enrichener once, let the knob go, rode like shit for miles. Stopped and realized the enrichener was half on! Always check it visually now to make sure it dont happen again.

I had thiis same thing happen to me last week. I took it to the dealer and they replaced my gas cap because it was not venting correctly. you will notice when you open the gas tank you hear the release of the pressure. I felt pretty silly but at least it is a small problem.

Thanks guys. I tried to release the gas cap when originally started acting that way. At least yesterday the bike would start right back up, it just wouldn't run if I didn't work the throttle. As far as the Enrichener, I've never had to use it to start it. I tried yesterday while it was sputtering, but didn't do any good.

Today the bike turns over but won't start at all. The Dealer is picking it up monday, guess I'll find out after that. That's what the warranty is for...I guess. But I would prefer a warranty I didn't have to use.

Guess it too late now, but a couple of things come to mind (thinking out of the box - this is provided the issue is not related to somethin eletrical)....
Starts sputtering around 3K that's about when the MAIN JET kicks in. Could it possibly be blocked with some dirt?
Now it doesn't start...well you may have kept feeding it gas and fouled the plugs. Are you getting a spark? One of my fav links (thanks moe) http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/technical/11514-no-spark-troubleshooting-tree.html If you do have a spark I would change the plugs and give it a shot - AFTER cleaning out the carb and JETS.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I have been having similar issues with the 04 Mastiff that I just got. It did have a gas cap vent problem, but I was still having some problems especially when dumb me would forget to turn on the gas or run it down to reserve & stalling it. After which it was damn near impossible to restart & after the last time it would not start at all. Gave up & hauled it to Thunder in Oklahoma City yesterday. I talked them a bit ago & problem was the fuel line was replaced with one that was way too long routed under the tank to the center post & then back around to the carb - way too much for a gravity fed tank. Hopefully they're right because I'm ready to ride.

My bike died Sunday and left me stranded in the middle of no-where. I have had my 08' Pitbull since October and it has been in the shop 30% of the time. I recommend getting rid of it. I am convinced that these bikes are junk. Good luck!

What's wrong with it?

I remember you having some issues back in November/December, but it seemed as if you were a happy customer once BDM 'made it right' and haven't heard from you since.

What's wrong with your bike and how many miles have you been able to put on it since then?

bkingjr,
I'll make you a trade? I'll help you fix your ride, if you'll get me a ride with one of the girls in your avatar?  Just kidding, but they "all" sure look nice!
I agree with LDO here, give us some more info before you throw in the towel here. Yea you're right when you say these bikes have some problems, but they "all" do. The difficult issue with BD's is "properly" describing and understanding all of the symptoms! This is also true even with some of the dealer mechanics as well. Give the bike a chance to be diagnosed and repaired properly. What do you have too loose, you can't get too much $$ for a broken toy!

Heres the deal: There is not enough space here to tell all the problems I've had. This last one: It just died. Turn the key and nothing happens. I had to walk over a mile to the top of a hill to get service on my phone. A highway patrol WOMAN actually picked me up. I told the insurance co( because I have a towing package fortunately) that I hoped a car hit it and totaled it. I should hear tomorrow what the problem is. Bottom line: Its a piece of shit. I had a company towing it to MB last night. Non-refundable. I had a plane tix to MB tonight. I have reservations til Sunday. Non-refundable. And I was suppose to see Papa Roac at House of Blues this evening. If someone will pay it off they can have it!

I have 2600miles on it. I hate to be a downer, but bottom line...If I wanted problems, I would have bought a 3 grand bike instead of a 30 grand bike. If someone will pay it off, it theirs!
