Dude! Not knocking Jake or the WP but like the last guy found out.
CHECK ALL OF YOUR WIREING AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD GROUNDS AND NO BAD GROUNDS!
You may have a worn wire somewhere. I just had some weird shit going on with my bike and it was because my sparkplug wire was busted. Check all of it to verify what is or isn't going on before you take your next step.

That's the point...

The EHC, if it sees something grounded ever so slightly, even shorted with moisture, it will shut down the EHC, or a portion of the EHC and you get stranded. It may take you a while, but there is probably a short somewhere.

That is the ENTIRE reason to replace the EHC. With the Wire-Plus module, it runs off full 12 volts, not the 3 volts, 5 volts crap that the EHC does. If there is a water short, or a ever so slight short, the bike will always start and run. And more than likely everything will still work on the bike except for the single item that is shorted, like a turn signal or the horn or speedo.

So, look for your problem, but it is a sure thing, it will do it again and strand you. It did me about 6-8 times.

Did you ever find you issue that caused the failures to begin with? Thanks for the little class there. I didn't know that.
Whay would it happen again and again if he fixed the root? I agree with you that these are week. But if you take care of your shit it won't be all that fucked up right.

When I did my EHC removal RIGHT after the last NEW EHC was installed, I also replaced the entire charging system and new ignition system. I think that my charging system was messed up. They had replaced the VR 2 times but the stator was never replaced.

I replaced it all, took out the EHC and about 4000 miles later I have never had a single hiccup out of it.

I was averaging 600-800 miles in between EHC, VR, and battery failures over a 3000 mile time frame.

hell yes

do yourself a big favor, take out that piece of shit ehc toss it in the air and blast with shotgun. 12ga. 00buckshot! send contents back to bdm. tell them no thanks!!! then put in wireplus's elimination kit, and be happy again on a bike that you can rely on. hasta chopper dude.... remember loud pipes save lives

one more thing. another problem you have on your chopper is the wire harness to everyting behind you is between the fender and wheel! duh!!!!asking for problems. i took off the struts that support the fender and had a quarter inch groove machined in the entire length to the taillights. no more problems

If you haven't noticed this is a site for people who like their big dog motorcycle not for shit stains to come and bitch about there bike. BUY A HONDA!

Once in a while when reading a thread-I just sit back, scratch my head, and wonder if the poster actually read their post (to forever be in cyberworld) before they hit the send button. Please be respectful of others opinions even if they differ (and most likely will) from you own. Ride safe!
