20240507_184714.jpg20240507_184859.jpgI have a 2008 K9 With EFI. while trying to start it my EHC started smoking and my horn started sounding. Can someone look at the pictures attacked and tell me what to do with this bird nest. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dang that’s a mess. Download the wiring diagram and start tracing the connections.Mark & disconnect each one as you go. Then when you get your new harness & ehc it should be plug & play. Matt @bigdog.net also has the new harness & RIP kit EHC available for your motorcycle. Should you choose to DIY. Best of luck. Keep us posted!

Man, been there, not a good time.

As others said, replace the harness and module.

BDM also has a version a harness as well.

Thank you for the suggestions. Why are there so many splices in the wiring? Can anyone tell if there is anything added. I will be buying a replacement EHC of some sort. Need to get educated on EHC modules. any helpful input is greatly appreciated.
Mick has a good idea for you to figure out and label your wires. After that you may want to consider an M-Unit for your controller. I don't have personal experience with it but seems to be a good alternative and less expensive.

Wire plus was a older option. Had to cut and spice lots of wires. There are more options now. One that is plug and play. If the stock connection are still available. Since yours has so many cut wires. As Mikkinjersey said if you can trace and label all the wires. The M-unit may be a good option.

do i need to buy a factory wiring harness before i can install the rip kit?
Yes you do but they are still available from Curtis. (wildsteedworx.com) I think you need to e-mail him or call him at (619-823-8557), but he should be able to help you.

You will need Both ech And harness. WirePlus saved some folks $ but this is the result. Entire harness needs replaced when you deceide which way you wanna go....ie Rip kit or Axels(WildSteedWorx) Axle's is rock solid and offers some other options as well.

as it turns out there has been a EHC retro kit from wire plus already installed, Now the switch module from that kit has gone out.
so the questions are Can i buy the same kit and use the part i need? Can i buy a different kit ad install it without buying a wiring harness? What are my options? Any help is greatly appreciated
