Electrical connectors

Doing a full winter tear down. I've decided to re powder coat the frame. I'm having a hellava time getting certain connectors off the harness so I can pull it thru the backbone.:bang: Anyone have suggestion as to how to remove this type? The small flat ones were a piece of cake, but these are giving me fits.....

These are Duetsch plugs. You need to plug out the rubber end where the wires enter into the plug. The one picture shows it as being orange colored. Once you get that plug out and pulled back, there will be a wedge shaped piece of plastic inside that you can grab with pliers and pull out. Then the wires and the barrel connectors will be free and can be pulled out. Make sure you get a diagram so you can match the wires to the plug again.

While those do come apart as mentioned above; I don't think you should have to take them apart to pull back through the backbone....:nono:

Think about it; very unlikely that BDM terminated those wires after fishing wires right; hence, if they went in pre-made, they'll come out pre-made imho...just saying, but disclaim I have no personal experience with your model/year.

Yeah, you would think huh? Not the case though. I tried removing it first, no go. Got to strip at least a few to have clearance. Found out they are not Duetsch, they're JST. Looks the same but not made the same. The WirePlus I got from Jake does have the Duetsch plugs and they are different than whats on the bike. Now to figure out how they release...... its got to be easy??. Right?? :bang:

Does this image help? Do you see the interlocking tabs? BDM used the model show on the left. JST is the brand JWPF is the name of the Wire to Wire Connector.
