03 mastiff...
Bike has run awesome for my first yr w/o any issues. After thanksgiving trip bike will not start. During normal start procedure the lights will dim and i hear a one time click in the ignition. thats it however. Battery is at 13v. No loose connections or wires that i can see. Any ideas? Starter... Ignition?

Get the battery LOAD tested. Dimming lights may indicate lowered cranking amp capacity.

You should have around minimum of 10 volts across battery terminals while cranking.

From your description it sounds like the engine is not turning over, correct?

Is the one time click you hear at the starter solenoid?

Place your hand on the solenoid when you try to start and find out if you can feel the click in the solenoid unit.

Or could the click be the compression releases?

Make sure the GREEN starter solenoid wire is connected WELL.

If it's the solenoid trying to kick in, then you need to disconnect the battery and remove the solenoid cover plate and clean the contacts to begin with.

In addition to the above How to: I would clean and place a very light film of grease on the solenoid plunger and spring/spring shaft.

I would also check the ignition/starter module. It is on top of your battery. It has two lights on it, with the switch turned on, if either light is on there is a short or open circuit.
The red light is the starter side of the module.

Bro 1 I cleaned and inspected the starter contacts. Tested the voltage to the starter while depressing the start button. 12v to the solenoid. I havent removed the starter to test w/ battery direct power due to having to remove the oil lines and primary cover. Im thinking ignition, as the audible click is coming from the ignition only. I did however notice the module on top of the battery has a yellow light that indicates when I depress the start button. Not sure of the function of this component. Iam new to my bike and have very little electrical experience. Just learned that its gonna cost me paying for a service manual???? come on big dog...(bummer) and figure WTF... buy a starter and replace. Then work on ignition next if needed. Iam a diesel truck guy and grew up v8 muscle gas inclined guru. Figures i would run into an electrical problem. Stumped?

ELECTRONIC START MODULE
DIAGNOSTIC INSTRUCTIONS:
A RED LED INDICATES AN OVERLOADED OR SHORTED CIRCUIT WITHIN THE STARTING SYSTEM.
AN AMBER LED INDICATES AN OVERLOADED OR SHORTED CIRCUIT WITHIN THE IGNITION SYSTEM.

YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO LOAD TEST YOUR BATTERY, EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE GETTING A GREEN LIGHT ON YOUR BATTERY TENDER AND SHOWING 13 VOLTS YOU MAY NOT HAVE SUFFICIANT CRANKING AMPS. ESPECIALLY IF YOUR BATTERY IS OVER 1 YEAR OLD. 107 CI. W/O COMPRESSION RELEASES TEND TO BE HARD ON STARTING SYSTEMS.
